Obituaries | The Tube City Almanac | October 30, 2025
Daniel Colagrande, age 77, of White Oak, died October 28, 2025, at Grandview Estates. Born February 14, 1948, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Carmen and Sylvia (Zygmunt) Colagrande and the husband and high school sweetheart of Alice (Russo) Faix.
Daniel honed his skills at Penn State University, where he studied architecture. Later, he made significant contributions as an architect for VA hospitals. In 2005, he purchased the Balkan Hotel and, using his architectural knowledge, transformed it into a home that served as a canvas for celebrations. Every holiday was a reason to decorate, and every gathering was a cherished occasion. Always full of energy, Daniel spent his time traveling, hiking, and skiing. His adventurous spirit was matched only by his commitment to his family, who always remained his first priority.
In addition to his wife, Daniel is survived by his daughters, Rhonda Hirai, and Carmine Suga; sister, Robin Colagrande; along with eight, soon to be nine, grandchildren and one great-grandson.
Arrangements were entrusted to Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory. A mass and burial will be announced at a later date. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.jaycox-jaworskifh.com.
