John Ralph “Ski” Raszewski Ross, 92, of Glassport, passed away on Sunday, May 11, 2025 peacefully at his home. He was born at McKeesport Hospital on February 18, 1933 to the late Peter Raszewski and Victoria Buldak. He was the 11th of 12 children. He spoke fluent Polish until his very last days. John was the loving husband of 68 years to his beloved Sally Jo. He is survived by his children Patricia (William H.) Kiser of Glassport, Val (Nikki) Ross of Glassport, and Amy (Bob) Deliman of Dravosburg. Surviving siblings Eleanor Sidlo of Glassport and Lanny (Marlene) Raszewski also of Glassport. Grandchildren Christopher, Billy, Jimmy, Joshua, Brandon, Jordan, Bree, Ricky, Cory, Robert, Kara, Val, and Michael. Great-grandchildren Skyler, Tyler, Joseph, Colby, and Ellis.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his loving wife Sally Jo. Children Karen and Johnny. Grandchildren Little Johnny and newborn Kimberly. John was a devout member of the Queen of the Rosary Church his entire life. He served as an alter boy at the church as a young child. He enjoyed coaching little league baseball when he was a teenage boy. He was enlisted in the Navy from 1951 until 1955. He served aboard the USS Battleship Missouri and the USS Battleship Wisconsin during the Korean War. John worked for Westinghouse in Glassport as a Coil Winder for 30 years. He was also affiliated with the Men’s Softball League in Glassport in the 1980’s as a player and a coach. He was a member of the Polish National Alliance. He played basketball on an “old-timers” pickup league until he was 70 years old. John loved to watch all types of sports. He especially loved tending to his garden and yard.

There will be a Mass of Christian Burial in his honor at St. Joachim & Anne Parish Queen of the Rosary in Glassport on Tuesday, May 20, 2025 starting at 10 a.m. Immediately followed by interment at Saint Mary Czestochowa Cemetery in White Oak.
