John C. True, age 89 of North Huntingdon, passed away on October 14, 2025. He was born on May 12, 1936 in Lowber, a son of the late Melvin True and Catherine Wolfe True. John was a member of St. Agnes church, where he served as an usher for 15 years. He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served as a Military Police Officer. John belonged to the American Legion in Manor, where he was the second-in-command. Prior to his retirement, John fulfilled a career as a machinist for St. George Crystal in Jeannette. He also cherished the time he spent working on his family's farm, True Farm, in Sewickley Township. In his free time, John looked forward to hunting, especially rabbit hunting with his beloved beagles, and he also liked to garden. He enjoyed his role as a soccer coach for the Norwin and East Allegheny high school varsity teams. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by one daughter, Marlaina Curry, one brother, James True, and two sisters, Karen Detar and Elaine Serman. He is survived by his beloved wife, Rita Huzela True, two sons, John True Jr. (wife Stacy), and Justin True, one daughter, Michelle Evans (husband John), one son-in-law Richard Curry, five grandchildren, Joshua Curry (wife Sarah), Nathan Evans, Brittany Atkinson (husband Jack), Tyler Evans, and Jeremy Curry, and four great-grandchildren, Morgan, Carter, Myles, and Kallen. Friends will be received at the JAMES W. SHIRLEY FUNERAL HOME, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, on Friday from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM. A funeral Mass will take place in St. Agnes Church on Saturday at 10 AM with interment to follow in Westmoreland Memorial Park.
