Joanne Phillis Boback, 94, of Elizabeth Township, passed away Friday, February 6, 2026 at Grandview Estates of Elizabeth. She was born July 13, 1931 in Clairton and was the daughter of the late George Phillis. Joanne was the wife of 65 years to the late Robert "Bob" Paul Boback, who passed away June 24, 2016. Joanne was a member of over 60 years at The Round Hill Presbyterian Church in Elizabeth, where she had previously served as a Deacon and was active in The Survivors Club. Joanne was a lover of animals, especially her cat, Tippi and her late Golden Retrievers, Roxie and Sunny She loved watching sports, especially the Pittsburgh teams. She enjoyed shopping at QVC and was known for buying many shoes and sweets. Most importantly Joanne loved her family, especially her grandchildren, who were the light of her life and she loved spending time with. She will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her daughters, Karen J. (Ronald) Galicic, and Kathy J. (James) Stewart; grandsons, Cameron Stewart and Ian (Kylie) Stewart; great-granddaughters, Emerson Laura Stewart and McKinley Joanne Stewart, on the way; sister, Harriet (the late Roy) Grant; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition to her father and husband, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Mercedes "Marcie" Phillis. Friends are welcome on Tuesday, February 10, 2026 from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township (412) 751-5000 Drew J. Gilbert, Director. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 11, 2026 at 11:00 am at the Round Hill Presbyterian Church with The Rev. Paul Edwards, officiating.
