Retired Sgt. Kevin Martin, 61, of McKeesport, PA, departed this life on February 3, 2026, at the H. J. Heinz III VA Medical Center. Born January 26, 1965, in Baltimore, MD, the beloved son of the late Henry L. and Dorothy L. Smith Martin. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Henry L Martin Jr., and Eric Martin, and, daughters, Isha Acie and Kennedi Martin.
Kevin, affectionally known as "Japp", he was a 1980 graduated, of McKeesport High School, where he made many life-time friends. He also attended Le Cordon Bleu Culinary Academy and Barber School of Pittsburgh. At the age of 17, he enlisted in the US Army and served 20 years, and, after retiring, he served 5 years in the National Guard. His last place of employment was the VA Hospital in the Environmental Services department.
Kevin had a huge heart and was a giver to a fault. If he had it, you got it. He would open up his home and his wallet to help his friends. Kevin was an avid Steelers fan and dedicated a room in his home to the team. Among his talents, he was a barber and chef. Kevin was a sharp dresser with everything matching from head to toe at all times (casual or formal). Look good, Feel good, Do good... It's all good!
Kevin is Survived by his children, Devin Martin of Savannah, GA, Tevin Martin, Kavari Martin, Mecca Muhammed, all of McKeesport, PA, Shamaar Martin, of Columbia, MD, grandchildren, Trevon Martin, King Martin, Nivet Martin, Ruymiya Bentley, great-granddaughter, Noel Martin all of McKeesport, PA, siblings, Andrew (Carmen) Martin, Rosalind Martin, Lisa Martin, all of Atlanta, GA, Pamela Martin-Ruffin of Bronx, NY, and best friend Vaugh Wallace of McKeesport, PA.
Kevin loved kids and impacted the lives of so many children that, affectionately, called, him dad and unc. Taylor, Dajour Chaffin, Taylor Chaffin, Kevin Martin, Kaieer Martin, and Sevyn Johnson, and, a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Arrangements are in care of Robert A. Waters Funeral Home.
