Dorothy L. (Szekely) Heaps, 87, of North Huntingdon, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Wednesday, March 4, 2026. She was born November 10, 1938 in Pitcairn, a daughter of the late Andrew and Lavina (Smith) Szekely and was also preceded in death by her husband James L. Heaps, brothers and sisters Gerald Szekely, Paul Szekely, Alice “Honey” Bainey, Judy Glasser, and Russell Szekely. Dorothy was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, North Huntingdon. She was a loving mother and grandmother, who also treasured her pets, and over the years enjoyed many trips together with her late husband to the Imperial Palace Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas. She is survived by her children Randolph J. (Tammy) Heaps, Richard A. (Barbara) Heaps, Linda Lee Sich, and Renée Louise Swarm, grandchildren, great grandchildren, her brother Daniel Szekely ; also nieces and nephews. Funeral services are private and are being handled by William Snyder Funeral Home, Inc., 521 Main Street, Irwin, 724-863-1200.
