James J. Grassi, age 71, of Blawnox, formerly of Larimer Ave., died on March 16, 2026. Born February 9, 1955, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Chester W. and the Angeline (Genovese) Grassi.
James dedicated his life to the culinary arts, becoming a cherished figure within the local food community. For many years, he lent his remarkable talents to several restaurants, most notably contributing to the creation of the menu at the former Bravo Franco Ristorante downtown, where his passion for food transformed dining experiences for countless patrons.
Known for his infectious sense of humor, James had a rare gift for making those around him smile, often brightening the mood at gatherings with his joyful spirit. His warmth and kindness extended beyond his culinary pursuits; he selflessly cared for his mother for many years, exemplifying the love and devotion he had for his family. He is survived by his
James is survived by a brother, Chet Sr. (Louise) Grassi; nephew, Chet Jr. (Pam) Grassi; a niece, Liesa (Steve) Thompson; a great-niece, Alexandria Grassi; three great-great-nieces,and his dog, Peekala. In addition to his mother, he was also preceded in death by a brother, Michael Grassi.
