Arthur A. “Sonny” McGrew, 84, of McKeesport, died Dec. 7, 2017, at Senior Care Plaza.  Born Sept. 4, 1933, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Julia (Lingsch) McGrew.

Sonny was an employee of the former Firth Sterling Steel Co.  He proudly served his country in the U.S Army during the Korean War.  He was an avid baseball player and played on several McKeesport teams.  Sonny was a great dancer and had a wonderful sense of humor.  He took pride in keeping his home and cars in perfect condition.   Sonny was proud of McKeesport, his lifelong home.  Civic-minded, he often contributed letters to the Daily News, on subjects important to his city.

Survivors include his companion and girlfriend of 32 years Jean, nieces and nephews and sister-in-law, Helen McGrew.  Sonny was preceded in death by siblings, Findley B. and Violet M. Bowman.

Family and friends are invited to a committal service on Tuesday, Dec. 12th, at 2:00 p.m., at McKeesport & Versailles Cemetery Chapel.  Please meet at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home in McKeesport at 1:45 p.m.  No visitation is scheduled.  Condolences may be shared at www.Jaycox-Jaworskifh.com
