Robert A. “Bud” McCorkle, Jr., 79, of Liberty Boro, passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at home surrounded by his loving family.  He was born September 25, 1946 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Robert A. McCorkle, Sr.  and the late Mary Jane (Hodge) McCorkle. Bud was a US Navy Veteran serving during the Vietnam War and served on The USS Forrestal. For his service he was awarded The National Defense Service Medal and The Vietnam Service Medal. Upon completion of his military service, Bud would go on to work for over 30 years at The US Steel Clairton Works, retiring as a heater. Bud was a lifetime member of VFW 803 in Clairton and was also a member of The Port Vue American Legion. Bud was a lover of music he enjoyed playing guitar and listening to Do Wop groups. He was also a DJ, known as The Spin Doctor.  Bud loved sports, in his younger years, he enjoyed playing baseball and was an avid Pittsburgh Penguins fan as well.  Bud was very passionate about his family, his country and his faith. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Janice A. (Stone) McCorkle; son, Robert A. (Stephanie) McCorkle III.; step-daughter, Jenny (Mathias) Tornqvist; grandchildren, Kaelyn and Collin McCorkle; son-in-law, Walter Singleton; siblings, David (the late Vilma) McCorkle, Douglas (Marlene) McCorkle, Scott McCorkle, and Lani (Eric) Knabenschuh; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; and his beloved Boston Terrier, Maggie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Kelly Singleton, who passed away in 2023. Friends and family are welcome on Wednesday, April 1, 2026 from 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township (412) 751-5000 Drew J. Gilbert, Director.  Funeral service will begin at 6:00 pm immediately following visitation with full military honors.
