Mary Kay (Olasin) Oliverio, age 73 of McKeesport, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 in Transitions of North Huntingdon. Born January 19, 1951 in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Grace (Naugle) Olasin. Mary Kay attended Point Park College and went on to work as a social worker for ARC Allegheny and Achieva, both in Pittsburgh. After retiring she worked as a pet sitter. Mary Kay was a member of Corpus Christi Church (Mary, Mother of God Parish) in McKeesport and the ASPCA. She often supported the Humane Society, The World Wildlife Federation, and Wounded Warrior Project. Mary Kay will always be remembered as a God-loving person, exceedingly caring, and most of all: a loving mother, sister, and wonderful grandmother.

Anthony P. Mazzocca, age 68, of Forward Twp., passed away on Saturday, January 20, 2024 at Jefferson Hospital. He was a retired truck driver for Pepsi in McKees Rocks. He loved hunting and fishing. Born October 25, 1955 in Pittsburgh, he was a son of the late Pasquale and Virginia (Dirienzo) Mazzocca. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lorraine C. (Abbott) Mazzocca; daughters, Alyssa (Steven) Colaianni of Canonsburg and Lauryn Taylor of North Versailles: sister, Lucy (Alex) DeBlasio of West Homestead; brother, Domenic Mazzocca of White Oak; good buddy, Gary (Bernadine) Trunzo of Forward Twp.; also, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Loretta Markowski. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, 221 North Second Avenue, Elizabeth on Thursday, January 25, 2024, from 2 PM until the time of blessing at 4 PM with the Rev. Edwin Wichman officiating. Mary E. Lasich, age 77 of Jefferson Hills, passed away on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 in Jefferson Hospital. Born April 26, 1946 in New Orleans, LA, she was a daughter of the late Ralph and Virginia (Hicks) Makepeace. A 1964 graduate of Elizabeth Forward High School and Franco Beauty Academy, Mary retired from Target in West Mifflin and was an active member of Pine Run United Methodist Church. In her spare time, she enjoyed quilting, sewing, embroidery, miniatures, and various other arts and crafts. Mary won several blue ribbons at the Washington County Fair for entries in knitting and needlework. She was a member of the Pittsburgh Miniature Society; participated in several craft-related charities; was an avid baker, cook, and gardener; and enjoyed regular trips to Ohio Amish Country with her husband of 56 years, Richard D. Lasich. Besides her husband, Mary is survived by her children Beth (Mark) Emerick, Eric (Jessica) Lasich, Andrew (Melissa) Lasich, and Mark Lasich; her grandchildren Joshua, Amber, Jake, Ryan, Colin, and Maddie; her sister Susan Rosetti; and also numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Jack Makepeace.

Judith Long, age 79 of Clairton, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024 in Jefferson Hospital. Born October 7, 1944 in Meadowlands, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Margaret (Cholak) Piasante. A member of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish (the former St. Paulinus Church), Judith worked as a school bus driver for the Bamford Motor Coach of Duquesne. She will be remembered as a great mother who always put her family first. They remember her as always having a forgiving love and for going without so that they could have what they needed and wanted. When she became a grandmother, Judith was always there with unwavering support in their lives, be it for majorette competitions, football games, parades, or anything. They will love and miss her always. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of thirty years, Melvin W. Long, who passed away April 6, 2021, her son Anthony B. Koontz, who passed away January 21, 2021, and her daughter-in-law Erin Koontz, who passed away January 29, 2016. Judith is survived by her children Randall (Ruth) Koontz, Jr. of Donora, Christopher (Brenda) Koontz of Mt. Pleasant; and Brian Koontz of Clairton; her grandchildren Krista, Bryson, Taafe, Morgan, and Taylor; her brothers John Piasante of Meadowlands and Joseph (Joyce) Piasante of Washington; nieces and nephews; and her daughter-in-law Nicole Koontz.

Joyce D. Brown, age 68 of Clairton, passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2024 in UPMC Mercy Hospital - Pittsburgh. Born June 23, 1955 in Richmond, she is the mother of Michelle A. Brown and Von D. Brown of Clairton and the grandmother of Devondre Brown of Clairton, Aymilyon Carter of New Jersey, and Daysia Brown of Clairton. A member of Bible Baptist Temple in Jefferson Hills, Joyce worked for over 20 years in the customer service department of Giant Eagle. She raised her family in the former Blair Heights projects in Clairton and was beloved and active in that neighborhood. Joyce worked at the community center there, looked out for everyone, always had a piece of candy for the children, and was an integral part of the community. She will be remembered as a fun-loving, caring, and respected woman who will be missed by all, but by her family especially.

Lylalee L. Weldon, age 87 of Versailles, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 H.J. Heinz VA Hospital - Aspinwall. Born April 18, 1936 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late Blaine and Vivien (Giles) Lytle. A US Air Force Veteran and member of Mary, Mother of God Parish, Lylalee received an associates degree from CCAC and worked as a secretary for McKeesport Hospital, the former St. Denis Church in Versailles, and most recently for St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church. She joins her husband, the late Edwin J. Weldon, who passed away May 2, 2019. Lylalee is survived by her daughters Denise (Steve) Siviy of Winston-Salem, NC, Dawn (Wayne Carver) Forbes of Windsor, MA, and Deborah (John Lips) Schroeder of Versailles; her ten grandchildren Cassie, Edwin, Joey, Tabby, Nina, Kayla, Nathan, Jackie, Allison, and Shannon; her nine great-grandchildren; her sister Bonnie Vojnovich of Freedom; and also nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her brother Blaine Lytle.

James M. Cavalancia, age 70 of Versailles, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024 in UPMC McKeesport Hospital. Born March 11, 1953 in Wilkinsburg, he was a son of the late Stephan and Margaret Lorraine (Schake) Cavalancia. A journeyman machinist, mostly with WabCo Air Brake of Wilmerding and most recently with American Shear and Knife in Homestead, James was a member of the CFU Lodge #146 of Versailles, the 11th Ward Club in McKeesport, and formerly the Versailles American Legion and Wilmerding Ukrainian Club. In his spare time, he enjoyed rooting on the Steelers, Penguins, and the University of Pittsburgh. James is survived by his son Mathew (Jennifer) Cavalancia of Elizabeth Twp. and their daughters Alessa and Lydia; and his long time companion Sandy Bezick, her children Tammy Waltonbaugh and Jimmy (Kristen) Bezick, and her grandchildren Ashley Waltonbaugh and Brianna Bezick. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Steve (Marlene) and Rick Cavalancia.

Anthony M. Hutskow, age 82 of Elizabeth Twp., passed away at home on Thursday, January 4, 2024. Born February 6, 1941 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Anthony T. and Helen (Hrapchak) Hutskow. A member of Sts. Joachim and Anne Parish - St. Michael's Church, Anthony worked as a funeral director with the former Pavlic Funeral Home in Versailles, at US Steel Duquesne Works, and longest and lastly as a manager for Burger King at locations around the Richmond, VA area. In his spare time, he loved to fish. He is survived by his wife of 60 years Leona (Watrobski) Hutskow; his children Janice (the late Thomas) Petet of Prince George, VA and Anthony M. (Jennifer) Hutskow, Jr. of Elizabeth Twp.; his grandchildren Thomas Petet, Jr., Rachel (David) Duval, Anthony J. (Katelyn) Hutskow, Adam (Carrie) Hutskow, and Lexi Hutskow; his great-grandchildren Hunter, Gavin, Juliette, Wyatt, Quinn, and Nolan; and also nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Anthony was preceded in death by his brother Dennis Hutskow.

Born June 9, 1977 in McKeesport, she is a daughter of Janet (Lawrence) Bryant of Greenock and the late William A. Bryant who passed away December 30, 2006. A bachelor's degree recipient from Vassar College in New York in Theater Arts, Melinda was a talented photographer and a caring pet owner to her beloved dog Ziggy. Besides her mother, she is survived by her siblings Wendy Bryant of Greenock, Reid (Tracey) Bryant of Latrobe, Chad (Milada Vachudova) Bryant of Chapel Hill, NC, and Todd (Akiko Meguro) Bryant of Carlisle; her niece and nephews: Kendall, Tyler, Andrew, Lukas, and Dominik Bryant; and her former husband John LaDue.
