Mary T. (Venturini) Smith

Mary T. (Venturini) Smith, age 70 of Liberty Borough, passed away at home on Saturday, October 3, 2020.  Born April 3, 1950 in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Pio and Virginia (Banchig) Venturini.  A former employee of the County of Allegheny, Mary was a member of St. Eugene's Church in Liberty Borough.  In her spare time, Mary loved animals -- especially her dog Buttons -- spending time and the mountains, and collecting cookbooks.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Arleigh E. Smith, who passed away June 30, 2017, and her brothers Gino and Raymond Venturini.  Mary is survived by her brother Ciro (Irene) Venturini of White Oak and many nieces and nephews.

Sr. M. Celine Rachwal

Sr. Mary Celine Rachwal, age 89 of the Sisters of the Divine Redeemer of Elizabeth Twp., passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2020 in UPMC McKeesport.  Born January 19, 1931 in Niebocko, Poland, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Catherine (Kopczk) Rachwal.  A Professed Sister of the Divine Redeemer for 68 years, Sr. Celine received her BSE in elementary education and business education from Duquesne University, her MA in Administration and Secondary Education from the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC, and her Magistrere in French Language and Civilization from the Sorbonne, Paris.   She worked as a high school French teacher for many years and served as treasurer for the Sisters of the Divine Redeemer.  In her spare time, Sr. Celine loved to garden, was an excellent seamstress, and enjoyed crocheting.   Sr. Celine is survived by her Sisters of the Divine Redeemer; her sister-in-law Ruth Rachwal; her nieces Valerie (Robert) Bolhouse, Diana (Gary) Skalski, Jenny (Walter) Jominy, and Cyndi (Philip) Roberge; and many grand-nieces and grand-nephews.  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Helen Coll and Sr. M. Adrienne Rachwal, S.D.R. and her brother Matthew Rachwal.

Jean Marie (Gazda) Jordan, age 78 of Athens, GA and formerly of Clairton, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2020 in Arbor Terrace, Athens, GA.  Born September 11, 1942 in Clairton, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Connie (Smerilli) Gazda.  An active member of Holy Family Catholic Church, and its choir, of Marietta, GA, Jean was a member of the Acworth, GA Red Hat Society, an avid reader, and animal lover (especially cats.)  Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Nicholas J. Jordan, Jr., who passed away June 29, 2001.  Jean is survived by her children Michael Dominic Jordan of Elizabeth, Teresa (Kendall) Jordan Mundy of Bishop, GA, and Nicole Marie Jordan of Las Vegas, NV; her grandchildren Ashley Marie Jordan of Suwanee, GA, Jordan Marie Mundy and Meghan Claire Mundy, both of Bishop, GA, and Angelina Mary Jordan and Nicholas Michael Jordan, both of Elizabeth; her siblings John (the late Loretta) Gazda of Plum, Joseph (the late Pat) Gazda of Pittsburgh, and JoAnn (Ed) Waters of Jackson Center; and also nieces and nephews.

Anna T. (Kojundzic) Milas

Anna T. Milas, age 101 of Jefferson Hills, passed away comfortably in her sleep on Saturday, September 26, 2020.  she was born April 17, 1919 in Clairton and lived a long and happy life.  Anna was preceded in death by her parents the late Michael and Helen (Unitas) Kojundzic; her husband of 36 years, Anthony W. Milas, who passed away September 7, 1981; and her son James (daughter-in-law Lynn) Milas, who passed away unexpectedly September 2, 2020.  Anna worked in the payroll department at KMart, retiring in 1989, and was known for making friendships that lasted throughout her life.  She was an active member of and volunteer at St. Thomas a'Becket Church in Jefferson Hills.  Anna will be remembered by all who knew her to be kind, generous, and caring.  She is survived by her sons Eugene M. (Carole) Milas of McMurray and Leonard (Lenna) Milas of Bethel Park; her seven grandchildren Maura (Marc) Derstein of Telford, Andrea B. (Michael) Mikes, Jamie Milas of Pisa, Italy, Patrick (Megan) Milas of Brentwood, Teresa (Andrew) Morrison of Reston, VA, Greg (fiancee' Lacey) Milas, and Mark Milas of Hershey; great-grandchildren Calvin, Tyler, Vivian, Lilia, Camille, and Ainsley; her brother Michael (Betty) Kojundzic of Brooksville, FL; her sister-in-law Norma Milas of New Eagle; and also nieces and nephews.

Dale L. (Curry) Keleman, age 90, of Elrama, passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2020 at home. She was a member of the Free Hungarian Reformed Church in McKeesport, a former member of the Elrama Volunter Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, and she loved gardening and taking care of her flowers. Born October 14, 1929 in West Elizabeth, she was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Alice (Fleegle) Curry, and wife of the late Joseph S. Keleman. She is survived by daughter, Karen Keleman of Jefferson Hills; grandchildren, Nathan D. Tkach of Elrama and Jarrod (Nicole Firda) Tkach of Monongahela; great-grandchildren, Alexis Tkach of Elrama and Mischa "Nugget" Firda of Monongahela; son-in-law, Nick (Linda) Tkach of Elrama; sister, Lois Curry of Monongahela; caregiver, Gia (Sue) Gambino; fur babies, Hank and SMO; also, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by daughter, Kathy L. Tkach, and siblings, Carl, Alan and Jimmy Curry and Elaine Daddario. There is no visitation or service. John J. Liotta, age 85, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 22, 2020, at Concordia at Rebecca Residence. He was the beloved husband of 61 years to Janet (Ehrenfeld) Liotta; devoted father of Karen (Jeff) Lowinger, Kathy Mazzei and Diane (Richard) Rosenbaum; dear brother of the late Anthony (Tina) Liotta, Joan (William) Keyser, Carol (the late Charles) Jindracek and Arlene (Robert) Grados; and loving grandfather of Laura, Jessica, Michael, Alana, Gianna, Nina, Rachel and Jordan. John was a graduate of Duquesne University, former president of Alpha Phi Delta Fraternity, a U.S. Navy veteran and had a long career in computer sales.

John P. Cerqua, age 91 of Jefferson Hills and formerly of Clairton, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 22, 2020 in Grandview Manor, Elizabeth.  Born September 21, 1929 in Clairton, he was a son of the late Antonio and Rosaline (Polsinelli) Cerqua.  A US Army Veteran of the Korean War and member of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, St. Thomas a'Becket Church in Jefferson, John worked as a carpenter for Zell Bros. in McKeesport, for himself making custom built kitchens, and at Magee Women's Hospital as a carpenter and in maintenance.  In his spare time, he enjoyed bowling, camping, playing poker, travelling, casinos, and square dancing.  John was also a Scoutmaster for the St. Paulinas Pack 68 Cub Scouts.  He was also family oriented and loved to spend summers camping in Laurel State Park or vacationing in the Outer Banks.  Besides his parents, John was preceded in death by his first wife Ruth (Petersen) Cerqua; his brothers Joseph< Reno, Louis, and Sundae Cerqua; and his sister Rose Coletta.  He is survived by his wife Austa M. (Reckhouse) Cerqua; his daughters Mary Rose (Fred) Adams of Moorestown, NJ and Dianne (Nick) Curinga of Forward Twp.; his sons John (Michelle) Cerqua of New Eagle, David Cerqua of of Pleasanton, CA, and Anthony Cerqua of South San Francisco, CA; six grandsons; twelve great-grandchildren; brother Peter Cerqua of Ephrata; nieces and nephews; stepchildren Elizabeth (Martin) Baxendell, Linda Lamberger, Walter (Jennifer) Butler, Mark (Debbie) Butler, and James (Cheryl) Butler; and thirteen step-grandchildren.

Florence K. Puskaric, age 90 of Marshall, MI and formerly of McKeesport, passed away on September 17, 2020 at Oaklawn Hospital in Marshall.   Born March 14, 1930 in Munhall, she was a daughter of the late John and Katherine (Warsic) Barsic.  She was employed as a security officer for ten years at the Joseph Hornes Department Store in Monroeville.  Florence came to Michigan in 2004 from McKeesport.  She was a home maker that  loved to shop, cook, and bake.  Florence was proud to be crowned Miss Pittsburgh in 1947.  She was united in marriage on May 15, 1949 to Joseph Puskaric, and he preceded her in death on May 14, 2003.  She was also preceded in death by her brothers John, Frank, and George.  She is survived by her loving daughter Kathy Puskaric of Marshall and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Warnick, age 63 of Clairton and formerly of Carnegie and Glassport, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at home.  Born May 21, 1957 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Harry and Joan (Scears) Warnick.  Daniel worked as a window installer for Three Rivers Auto Glass in McKees Rocks for many years. He will be remembered as a loving brother, brother-in-law, and uncle.  Daniel was survived by his daughter Lindsay (Warnick) Riddle of Pittsburgh; his granddaughter Everly Grace; siblings Harry Warnick of Clairton, Debbie (the late William) Butler of White Oak, Linda (Lee) Malloy of West Mifflin, Brenda (Mark) Webster of Liberty Boro, Cindy Nickolich of Glassport, and Ronald Warnick of McKeesport; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers David, Barry, and Robert Warnick.

Walter F. “Tut” Heid, age 89, of Belle Vernon, formerly of Elizabeth, passed away on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at home. He was a loving father, husband and a friend to all.

Walter was a graduate of Har-Brack High School and the University of Maryland. An Army veteran serving during the Korean War, he retired as a safety engineer for the steel industry.

He was a member of Central Highlands Community United Methodist Church in Elizabeth Twp., was a past president of the Central Lions Club, and a member of the Sutersville Moose. Born December 15, 1930 in Tarentum, he was a son of the late Walter F. and Caroline (Stem) Heid.

Walter is survived by his wife of 58 years, Beverly Heid; children, Sheryl (Jerry) Heid Lazar of Perryopolis and Bryan (Cindy) Heid of Sharpsburg; grandchildren, Anna and Joel Lazar; step-grandchildren, Holly (Dave) Croteau and Michael Scott; great-grandson, Alexander Croteau; nephews, Stephen and David Heid; nieces, Stacie Kennefick and Laura (Chip) Fohl; and great-niece, Olivia.
