William J. Brown, age 90, of North Huntingdon, passed way Friday, September 29, 2017. He was born July 12, 1927 in Harrison City, a son of the late Harry and Mary (Lauffer) Brown. He was a veteran of the Merchant Marine and the Army during the occupation forces after WWII, and went on to be a tool and die worker at Fisher Auto Body in Dravosburg before retiring. He enjoyed traveling, especially to his trailer in Holiday, Florida. He was also a past member of the Elks in Harrison City.

Margaret H. (Hrtyanski) Piovesan, age 96, of North Huntingdon, passed away Tuesday, September 26, 2017. She was born September 7, 1921 in North Huntingdon, a daughter of the late Paul and Julia (Skito) Hrtyanski. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Irwin, and participated in the church quilting group. She loved to cook and bake every chance she got. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of over 41 years Glenn C. Piovesan; son David H. Piovesan; sisters Mildred Hrtyanski and Julia Zwald; and brother Julius Hrtyansky. She is survived by her daughter Karen (Gary) Shupe; grandsons Brian (Alisha) Shupe and Steve (Joe Lascar) Shupe.

Frank Cosharek, 99, of North Huntingdon, died Saturday September 23, 2017. He was born January 27, 1918 in Johnstown, a son of the late John and Mary (Prunchak) Cosharek. He was also preceded in death by his wife Mary Jane (Mlinarchik) Cosharek, sons James Cosharek and Kenneth Cosharek, and siblings Ann Lavely, Catherine Cosharek, Michael Cosharek, and Nicholas Cosharek who was killed during WWII. He was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, a retired foreman for U.S. Steel, Vandergrift, and an Army Veteran of WWII participating in the Normandy invasion and the European Theater. He is survived by his children Robert (Charlotte) Cosharek of Blairsville, Eileen (William) Spevak of Tucson, AZ, William Cosharek of North Huntingdon, and Thomas (Missy) Cosharek of Rillton; his grandchildren Rebecca Wiegering, and Elizabeth, John, Janine, Makenzie, and Logan Cosharek; his great grandchildren Alejandro, Gabriella, and Rafael; also numerous nieces and nephews.

Arlene R. (Bobak) Williams, 71, of McKeesport, died Wednesday, September 20, 2017. She was born January 9, 1946 in Turtle Creek, the daughter of the late Rev. Paul and Lillian (Snyder) Bobak and was also preceded in death by her husband of over 43 years Paul W. Williams and brothers Ronald Paul Bobak and Robert Bobak.
 
Arlene was a member of Greater Works Outreach, Monroeville, where she was a part of the GAP ministry and a spiritual mother to many. She was the former host of Cornerstone Ministries Television, At Home With Arlene Williams, and also a co-host of the Signs and Wonders segment of the television show Real Life at CTV. Arlene had a great love for people and was loved by many. She was an avid Pirates fan.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Clara M. (Altfather) Sarver; brothers Edgar, Robert, and Glenn Sarver; and sisters Olive Jones and Vera Deist. He is survived by his sons Lynn (Betsy) Sarver, Larry (Maria) Sarver and Blaine (Lisa) Sarver; grandchildren Jeff Sarver, Michael (Ashley) Sarver, Paul (Kim) Sarver, Lexi (Justin) Coulthurst, Abbey Miller, Arianne (Allan) Ward, Noelle Sarver and Mallory Sarver; and great grandchildren Caleb, Ian, Ryan, Molly, Connor and Emma Sarver, Ethan and Sydney Coulthurst, and Maverick Ward. He was employed by the Union Railroad for 37 years and also a member of the URR chorus.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II and Korea that went on to work in the payroll department of the Post Office in Pittsburgh for over 40 years. He was a lifetime member of the VFW in East McKeesport and the American Legion in White Oak and was an avid bowler that enjoyed events with the Senior Bowlers in North Versailles. He is preceded in death by his parents Francesco A. and Cecelia (Weis) Miriello; and brothers Alfred, Richard, Leonard and Eugene Miriello. He is survived by his wife of over 67 years Dorothea L. (Mitchell) Miriello; children David F. (Suzann) Miriello and Lisa F. (Karl Probola) Miriello; grandson Anton Raphael (Rachel) Miriello; and brothers Raymond and Kenneth (Mary) Miriello.

Rev. William P. Wood, 83, of North Huntingdon, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior Wednesday September 6, 2017. He was born December 29, 1933 in McKeesport, a son of the late Emmett and Agnes (Bumbarger) Wood and was also preceded in death by a brother Robert Wood. Bill was a graduate of McKeesport High School and received his bachelor’s degree in Theology from Nyack College, Nyack, NY. He served as a Pastor in Christian & Missionary Alliance Churchs for thirty nine years. He served Somerset Alliance Church from 1959 to 1965, Blairsville Alliance Church from 1965 to 1976 and then served as Director of Development at the Christian & Missionary Alliance, Western Pennsylvania District Office from 1976 to 1984. He served as Pastor of Norwin Alliance Church, North Huntingdon, from 1984 until his retirement in 1999 then served as interim pastor after retirement.

Ilona was a former employee of U.S. Steel Carrie Furnace, and a member of F.O.E. Aerie, 1671, Irwin. She loved her home and enjoyed having family over for Sunday dinners. She also loved her dogs. Surviving are her children Theresa M. (Thomas) Lusher, Edward L. Cole Jr., and Michael T. Cole all of North Huntingdon; her former daughter in law Sara Czolba; her grandchildren Jessica M. Ellis, Cole T. Karen E. (Carlson) Samuels, 68, of North Huntingdon died Friday August 25, 2017 at Magee Women’s Hospital after a yearlong battle with cancer. She was born January 19, 1949 in McKeesport, a daughter of the late Carl “Red” Carlson and Ann (Magdic) Carlson. She was a retired employee of Verizon, a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, Irwin, and a former Red Cross volunteer. She liked to bake, enjoyed walking, and was a big Pirates fan, but most of all she loved her grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. They meant everything to her. Surviving are her husband of forty years George I. Samuels; her children Sean (Lena) Samuels of Irwin and Jennifer (Jamie) Zona of North Huntingdon; her grandchildren Lauren, Ashley, and Reese Zona, Aidan and Liam Samuels and Marisa Duncan; her sisters Barbara Rose of Pittsburgh, and Judy (Marty) Orendt of NC; also a brother-in-law; sisters in law; and nieces and nephews.

She worked in personal home health care and was a bus driver for special needs children. In addition to her mother she is survived by her husband William K. Wright; her children Brian and Derek Ball, and Robert “Bob-o” Heasley; two grandsons; a sister P.J. Painter; and her mother in law Clara C. Wright. At Tammy’s request there will be no viewing.
