Thomas James Toner, age 74 of White Oak, formerly of South Side, died Wednesday, September 5, 2018. He was born July 21, 1944 on the South Side, the son of the late William and Dorothy Kirk Toner.

After his schooling, Thomas served in the Army during Vietnam. He then was employed by the former Mackintosh Hemphil Company in South Side for 20 years. He retired in 2005 from the Western Penitentiary after approximately 20 years as a Corrections Officer and afterwards was involved with transportation for the railroad for years. Fishing was a favorite of his and what he enjoyed most in his free time.

Thomas is survived by his wife Barbara Morros Toner of White Oak; sons, William (Amber) Toner of Key West, FL, Ryan (the late Angela) Toner of Pittsburgh; granddaughter Kiana Toner, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother John Toner, and sister Joyce Towers.

Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 from 10:00 am until 12:30 pm at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation & Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, Supervisor 412-678-6177).

Burial will follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies at 2:00 p.m. with military honors.
