John H. Sherbondy

John H. Sherbondy, age 89 of North Huntingdon, passed away on August 26, 2024 at Point Pleasant Retirement Home in North Versailles. He was born on April 22, 1935 in Larimer, a son of the late William Sherbondy and Emma McKay Sherbondy. John was the owner of Sidney Machine Tool Company, and was also employed as a bus driver for Norwin, Penn Trafford, and several local Catholic schools. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Church in Irwin and also formerly served as an usher for St. Agnes Church. John was a PIAA Basketball Official, he loved to golf, and he played senior softball into his late years, notably on the 2006 Jersey Pride Senior Softball World Series Championship team. He was a lifetime member of the Irwin Moose. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, William Sherbondy. He is survived by his beloved wife, Reenie O'Connell Sherbondy, three sons, Jack (Patti) Sherbondy, Daniel (Ami) Sherbondy, and David (Chris) Sherbondy, one daughter, Colleen Heinicka (Ron), grandchildren Justin Sherbondy (Christie), Daniel Sherbondy, Blake Weitzel (Megan), Cassie Hildreth (Wally), C.J. Melocchi (Fiance Maggie), Anthony Melocchi (Chasey), and Patrick Sherbondy, and great-grandchildren, Quinn, Julius, Aurora, Jackson, Scarlett, Xander, Cooper, and Isla. Friends will be received at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon on Thursday from 3-8 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place in Immaculate Conception Church on Friday at 10 AM with interment to follow in Restland Cemetery in Monroeville. Tracy M. Plassio, age 58 of North Huntingdon, passed away on August 26, 2024 at UPMC Shadyside. She was born on July 29, 1966 in Greensburg, a daughter of the late James West and Roberta Koontz West. Tracy was a member of New Hope Church, and she attended Mass at St. Agnes Church with her husband John every weekend. Following her graduation from Norwin High School in 1984, she went on to become a Legal Secretary at BCCZ Law Firm in Pittsburgh. Tracy was an excellent cook, she loved to tend to her garden, and she always looked forward to camping with her family, especially at Pymatuning Lake. As a mother and a wife, she was an inspirational leader to the entire family. Tracy is survived by her beloved husband, John Plassio, three daughters, Nicole Plassio (Mario Balestreri) Katie Plassio, and Allie Plassio, two brothers, Jeff West and Scott West, and her mother-in-law Kathy Plassio. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place in St. Agnes Church at 10 AM on Thursday with interment to follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Irwin. PLEASE GO DIRECTLY TO THE CHURCH. Frank James Remaley

 Franklin James Remaley, 84, of North Huntingdon, PA, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024 at home. Frank was born on September 6, 1939, in North Bessemer, PA, to the late Melvin and Margaret Remaley. He graduated from Oakmont High School in 1957, and was a catcher for the Tigers of the Hot Stove League in Oakmont. He also caddied at Oakmont Country club, and was an avid golfer in his younger days. Frank met his lifelong companion, Toni Kardos, while he was working at G.C. Murphy in Vandergrift. Frank and Toni married in June of 1960, and at the end of April, 1963, they welcomed their only child, Lou Ann. Frank started his working career with G.C. Murphy Company at 16, starting as a stock boy and worked his way up to being a buyer. When Murphy’s was bought out, he then went on to be an electronics Sales Representative for DB Sales Group. Frank was always there to organize his daughter and her Ward Drive friends' kickball games, rides, and give advice when needed. He always attended Mass on Sundays at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in North Huntingdon. Through the years, Frank enjoyed camping, weekends with his family at Moraine camp lands, traveling with his wife throughout the country, visiting casinos, as well as dog and horse racing tracks. One of Frank’s true passions was the Penns Woods Civic Association where he presided as president for many years being instrumental in making Penns Woods Civic Association a thing of pride for all Penns Woods residents. Frank was his grandson’s biggest fan. He traveled far and near to watch Dante play in countless baseball and hockey games. He was always there to offer advice, wisdom, and to cheer Dante to victory. Frank easily made friends, finding the best in everyone, and would always be there for any reason for his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife Toni. Frank is survived by his daughter Lou Ann and her husband Greg Youhon of North Huntingdon, his grandson Dante and his wife, Melissa Youhon, siblings, Jerry Remaley (Judy) of Upper St. Clair, PA and Mary Ann Schavone (Lenny) of Jeannette, and many nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed by family, friends and neighbors. Friends will be received at the JAMES W. SHIRLEY FUNERAL HOME, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 P.M. Courtney Marie Harkins

Courtney Marie Harkins, 31, of Irwin, died unexpectedly Friday August 23, 2024. She was born November 19, 1992 in Pittsburgh, the daughter of Larry C. and Allison L. (Weathers) Harkins of Irwin. Courtney loved the theater. She was a graduate of Penn-Trafford High School where she was a member of the drama guild and the marching band and served as drum major her senior year. She went on to graduate with a bachelor’s degree in music education from Duquesne University and was involved with the theater group there. She performed with Stage Right, Split Stage, and Actors and Artists of Fayette County; among others. She also was an accomplished flutist and had given flute lessons. Courtney was not only regarded as an unprecedented talent in multiple facets on the stage, but a more incredible friend and confidant in the other aspects of her life. Everyone who loved Courtney found their life enriched by her presence. Her kindness, talent, and beauty poured over everyone who crossed her path. She consistently, without failure, brought grace, humility, and fondness for life to everyone around her. She was an animal lover, especially her three cats and her dog.

Irene "Nina" A. Cain

Irene "Nina" A. Cain, 100, of White Oak, formerly of Louisa, Virginia, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2024. She was born in Duquesne on January 10, 1924 and was the daughter to the late Rowland and Pearl (Leader) Aston. She was the wife of the late Francis M. Cain, Jr. before his passing in November 7, 1994. Irene went to Robert Morris University to be trained in secretarial duties. She ended up working many years during the war as a secretary for the Mills. Part of her job requirements was to cross trace the furnaces being moved via railroad from Carrie Blast Furnace to the Homestead Mills. She had to climb the rail cars and count the inventory of each car to match her records on the paperwork. Later on, she moved to Virginia, and during her time there she attended the Open Door Christian Church. She was an avid reader and loved studying the bible with her friends and groups that she became a part of. Once moving back to PA, she attended First Evangelical Free Church and joined in many bible studies here as well. Some of her favorite things were her Dachshund/Doxie dogs, and just about any chocolate desserts - ice cream, candy, or cake.

Ann S. Guza, age 88, of Fairview Park, Ohio, passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, August 18, 2024. She was born on July 18, 1936 in Gadsden, Alabama and was the daughter of the late Clarence Wilson and Evelyn (Porterfield) Jones. She moved to Clairton as a teenager where she eventually met and married the love of her life, the late Theodore "Ted" Guza. They raised their family and lived loyally and happily together until his passing in 1990. Ann worked for Three Rivers Bank as a Vault Supervisor for 30 years. Most remembered for her loving devotion to her family, particularly her grandchildren, and her love of animals, her skill in cross stitch, sewing, and quilting beautiful things which she passed down to her family. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles and brain teasers.

Sean P. “Moose” Malloy, age 53, of Mt. Washington, formerly of Duquesne, passed away on Wednesday, August 21, 2024. Born in McKeesport on November 13, 1970, he is the son of Fred Malloy of Elizabeth, PA and the late Nancy (McDonough) Malloy. He was a mail handler at U.S.P.S. Warrendale, a member of St. Philip Church, Crafton, was a computer geek, and enjoyed camping and driving. He was a veteran of the Navy, serving on the USS O'Brien during the Persian Gulf War.

Sean is the beloved husband of Tracy Schweitzer for 20 years and father of Isabella Malloy, at home. Besides his father, he is also survived by foster sons Adam “AJ” Ehrlichman of Brookline and Anthony Urban; brothers Kevin Malloy of Elizabeth, Michael Malloy of Elizabeth, Joe (Maribeth) Malloy of Carroll Twp., and Martin Malloy of Elizabeth and nieces Marissa, Melanie and Aubrei Malloy. He was predeceased by his sister, Noreen Malloy. 

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2024, from 1-8 p.m. at the MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 915 KENNEDY AVE., DUQUESNE, 412-466-3300, WILLIAM B. Jamar Antonio Bethea, 45, of McKeesport, was born March 23, 1979, in Pittsburgh, PA. He was the beloved son of Glenn Griffin and Theresa Bethea. Jamar departed this life peacefully on August 14, 2024, at his residence in McKeesport, PA.

Jamar attended the McKeesport area school district where he graduated. Jamar had a love for culinary arts, and he used his skills to work in various restaurants around the Pittsburgh area. Where he enjoyed learning from each establishment how to cook numerous entrees. His last place of employment was the Golden Coral in Monroeville, PA., where he managed cooking as the Grill Master. He loved to cook for his family and friends. We were blessed to have a personal Chef!

He was also very talented in drawing. He had an artist’s eye for the beauty of what he saw and drew it into a beautiful work of art. Jamar could draw anything!

Jamar was Baptist at an early age at Christ temple where he received Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and Savior.

John E. Cain, age 74 of North Huntingdon, passed away on August 20, 2024, at Forbes Hospital.  He was born on June 25, 1950 in Greensburg, a son of the late Paul Richard and Mary Elizabeth Stankowich Cain.  John was a 1968 graduate of Franklin High School prior to his service in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.  Prior to his retirement, John was employed as a metallurgist at the Bechtel Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory in West Mifflin. John was a member of St. Agnes Church and also an avid outdoorsman. He always looked forward to hunting, fishing, and camping.  He was a talented woodworker and loved to work on new projects.  In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by his brother, Dennis Cain.  He is survived by his beloved wife, Carol Kistler Cain, one son, John Cain, one daughter, Christine Buhr (Kenny), one sister, Sandra Hood, and two grandchildren, Charlotte and Hank.  Friends will be received at the James W.
