Shawn W. Malt, 57, of North Huntingdon, died Monday, April 13, 2026, at home. He was born September 3, 1968, the son of Debbie (Ciampa) Ecker (husband Scott) and the late William F. Malt Jr. He is also survived by his grandmother Anna Mae Malt (the late William); uncles Robert “Zeke” (Amy) Malt and Bruce (Brenda) Malt; and his aunt Jan (Ron) Bettencourt. Shawn was a man who found happiness in the outdoors. He had a deep love for fishing, always appreciating the quiet, simple moments. He also had a passion for riding his Harley Davidson, enjoying the freedom of the open road. It wasn’t just something he did, it was part of who he was. Shawn was a self-employed bricklayer for over 20 years, working mostly for RWS Shuster Homes. Shawn will be deeply missed by his family and many close friends. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, at the William Snyder Funeral Home, 521 Main St., Irwin. Private interment will be in Long Run Cemetery. Loretta M. Mehrmann, 91, of North Huntingdon, died Thursday, April 9, 2026. She was born September 26, 1934 in East Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late John and Mildred (Weber) Siskos and was also preceded in death by her husband Robert “Skits” Mehrmann and a sister Patricia G. (the late Henry) Heer. Loretta was a retired office supervisor for Time Warner. She liked to read and loved her Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins and Pirates. She is survived by nieces and nephews. Robert Elder, 71, of North Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, passed away April 3, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, quiet strength, and a life well lived.
Robert lived a life grounded in love—for his family, his faith, and the simple moments that made life meaningful. For 50 years, he was the devoted husband of Joanne Elder, sharing a partnership built on loyalty, laughter, and a deep, steady love that anchored their family.
He was a proud and loving father to Bethany Nguyen and Jared Elder, and a caring father-in-law to Paul Nguyen and Nikki Yacubovich. His greatest joy was being “Pap” to his grandchildren—Blake, Colin, Declan, Sloane, Turner, and Hadley—who brought him endless pride and happiness. He also embraced Aubrey, Max, Vivian, Kinsley and Kendra like his own grandchildren, loving them with the same open heart and quiet devotion.
Robert is also survived by his siblings, William Elder, Cheryll Elder, and Debora Battistella, with whom he shared a lifelong connection. He also held a special appreciation for Joanne’s brothers and sisters, treasuring the extended family that surrounded him.

William Lawrence Duffy, 75, of North Huntingdon, passed away on April 15, 2026.
He was born May 25, 1950, in McKeesport the son of the late William H. and Margaret (McMillan) Duffy. Bill lived a full and vibrant life marked by devotion to his family, strong faith, and a joyful spirit.
Bill was a proud graduate of Penn State University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in finance, and later received his master’s degree in education from Duquesne University. He built a long and successful career in accounting, working for many years at Westinghouse Electric Company and Eaton Corporation.
Bill had a deep love for sports, especially Pittsburgh teams and Penn State, and rarely missed a chance to cheer them on. He was passionate about music, enjoyed spending time on the golf course, and spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Janet B. (Smith) Temple, 85, of North Versailles, passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2026, surrounded by family. She was born December 16, 1940 in Braddock, a daughter of the late Glenn and Elizabeth (Shavinsky) Smith, who owned and operated Smith’s Corner Store in East McKeesport. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her step sister Patricia DiLucente and step brother Gary Davidson. She was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Church, Mary Mother of God Parish, was a graduate of East McKeesport High School class of 1958, and was the former Mother’s Club president of Boy Scout Troop #85. Prior to her retirement Janet worked as an office administrator for 20 years in Glassport for in Dr. Sang E. Lee. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed horseback riding, her Borzoi dogs, loved the music of Elvis Presley, and belonged to his fan club. She is survived by her husband Lloyd M. Temple, children Michael S. Robert M. Mihalchik, 62, of North Huntingdon, died suddenly Thursday, April 2, 2026, at home. Born February 1, 1964 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late Michael and Elayne (Muscante) Mihalchik. Rob was a 1982 graduate of South Allegheny High School and a 1988 graduate of California University of Pennsylvania where he earned a bachelor’s degree in secondary education. Rob worked for Highmark as a corporate trainer for over 30 years. Rob loved trains and was a member of the McKeesport Model Railroad Club since 1991. In his early days he worked at Kennywood Park as a games mechanic. He loved restoring pinball machines and had quite a collection in his game room. Rob is widely remembered for his 15 minutes of fame in the WQED show “Kennywood Memories”. Rob was a member of Immaculate Conception Church, Irwin. He was a volunteer for the Lamp Theater in Irwin for many years and enjoyed interactions with the patrons and performers, ensuring a good time was had by all at each show. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Renee J. (Stefanic) Mihalchik; his daughter Madeline (fiancé Tom) and son Michael; brother Mike Mihalchik (Bonnie) of Penn Township; sister Sheryl (Mihalchik) Maletic (Brent) of Washington; sister and brothers-in-law Marlene (Jim) McArdle of West Mifflin Jerry Stefanic (Jeff) of Erie, and Bobby Stefanic (the late Melissa) of Elizabeth Township; also nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. Charles F. Pecar, 80, of Arden Court of Jefferson Hills, formerly of East McKeesport, died Friday, February 13, 2026. He was born April 11, 1945 in McKeesport, the son of the late Frank and Ann (Duhan) Pecar and was also preceded in death by his wife of 46 years Jo A. (Voyce) Pecar and his sister Barbara Ann Pavlic. Chuck served in the U.S. Coast Guard and retired as a lock & dam operator for the Army Corps of Engineers. When not working, Chuck enjoyed traveling to all 49 states, eating great food with his wife, riding his Harley, and spending time with his grandkids. He loved fishing, golfing, and spent many years on his boat with his family. He was proud of his Croatian heritage and was a member of the Croatian Fraternal Union. Chuck loved music, playing his records, and was known to sing and dance on any occasion. Cynthia A. Campana, 74, of White Oak, died Saturday, February 7, 2026. She was born April 13, 1951 in Pittsburgh, a daughter of the late Donald and Janet (Shoemaker) Zack. Cindy was a light in this world, someone whose warmth, kindness, and genuine happiness made everyone around her feel a little better just by being near her. She had a gift for joy, and she shared it freely.
Cynthia graduated from the McKeesport Hospital School of Nursing and was a registered nurse beginning her career at Magee Hospital and working most of her career at Forbes Hospital in Monroeville. As a labor and delivery nurse, Cindy found her true calling in helping bring new life into the world. Few careers could have suited her better. She was calm, comforting, and caring while supporting families during one of the most meaningful moments of their lives. Countless parents and babies entered the world under her gentle care, and her impact will continue through generations.
