Rev. Arthur Benjamin Ackerman, Jr., age 93, of White Oak, PA, passed away on Saturday, January 31, 2026 at Juniper Village at Monroeville. He was born in Donora, PA on October 31, 1932 and was the son of the late Arthur Benjamin, Sr. and Gladys Phythyon Ackerman. Arthur married on August 14, 1954 to Lois Cochenour Ackerman who survives him.
Pastor Ackerman graduated in 1954 from Thiel College and in 1959 from the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Gettysburg, PA. He was ordained on March 15, 1959 and served three parishes during his ministry. He retired in 1997 from Faith Lutheran Church in White Oak, PA.
In addition to his wife, Arthur is survived by his children, Ardith (Frederick) Mauck; Aaron (Kimberly) Ackerman; and Judith (the late Alfred Pello) Ackerman; grandchildren, Heather (James) Alexander; Megan (Raymond Withers) Grifa; Molly (Joseph) Carso; Eric Mauck; and great grandchildren, Noel; Morgan; Taylor; James Clifford; Mason; McKynleigh; Adelina; and Eloise.
In addition to his parents, Arthur was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Jean Ackerman; and sister Ruth (the late Thomas) Berch.
Family and friends are invited to gather and honor Arthur’s memory on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at Noon at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, Inc., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, PA 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, supervisor, 412-678-6177). A burial will follow.
