Janice D. Kasony, age 69, of Trafford, PA, formerly of McKeesport, died on Monday, January 8, 2024. Born in McKeesport on February 19, 1954, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Lena DelCotto Demase. She was the wife of the late Dominic Anthony Kasony, who died on November 30, 2023.

Clifford G. “Cliff” Taylor, age 89, of North Huntingdon, formerly of West Mifflin, passed away on Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Redstone Highlands, Greensburg. Born in McKeesport on July 31, 1934, he was the son of the late Frederick and Freda (Schmidt) Taylor. He was a retired Maintenance Utilities Manager for U.S. Steel-Duquesne Works and was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish-St. Joseph Church. He proudly served his country in the Navy during the Korean War. He was the husband of the late Jacqueline (Vogt) Taylor and the late Joan C. (Gardell) Taylor. He is the father of Terri (Bill) Dearth of Morgantown, WV, Catherine (late Ralph) Eldridge of Middleton, CT, John (Mary) Gardell of Greenfield, Patricia Delserone of West Homestead and Mary (Jeff) Bedont of West Mifflin; grandfather of Matthew (Rachel) Dearth, Christine (Brian) Toomey, John (Kristin) Gardell, Amy Williams (Javier Ortiz), Richard (Rachael) Delserone, Joseph (Lisa) Gardell, Kimberly (David) Frishkorn, Michael (Ashley) Gardell, Tracey (Michael) Warywoda, Alex (Emily) Delserone, and Tyler Douglass; great grandfather of Amelia Dearth, Brian Jr., Shane, Brittany, Kaylee, Laney, Jack, Gabby, Ava, Gavin, Gwen, Rylee, Kacen & Teagan; great great grandfather of Brooklynn; and brother of James Taylor of Florida and the late Harold Taylor, William Taylor, Earl Taylor and Gladys Bear.

A Blessing Service will take place at the Funeral Home on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, at 10:00 a.m., at St. Joseph Church-Duquesne, with Rev. Patricia A. Kowalsky, age 84 of Wendel, Pa, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Independence (Excela) Hospital. She was born September 4, 1939 in Westmoreland County and resided there her entire life. She was the oldest daughter of the late Anthony J.Andrews and the late Eleanor (Helen) Andrews Kolikowski of Wendel, PA. She was retired from the First National Bank in Herminie where she served as a teller for many years. She enjoyed oldies, music, and spending time with her friends, "The Golden Girls." In the summertime , she enjoyed planting her flowers. She was a member of several oldies music groups including, P.O.R.C.C and S.O.C.. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, John S. Kowalsky in 2015 and a brother, Edward Andrews of Mt. Wolf. She was the loving mother to Antoinette "Toni" Dezorzi (Ted) of Candler, AZ and, Leslie Brough (Tim) of North Huntingdon. She was the very proud grandmother of 4 grandsons, Christopher Dezorzi, Keith Dezorzi, Mason Brough, and Trevor Brough. She is survived by her sibling William Andrews (Brockway, Pa and Rose Lapina (John) of Irwin, sister-in-laws, Marica Andrews of Mt. Wolf, Pa, Agnes Gabonay of West Newton and Barbara Bracovich of Orange City,Fl and many nieces and nephews. Lylalee L. Weldon, age 87 of Versailles, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 H.J. Heinz VA Hospital - Aspinwall. Born April 18, 1936 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late Blaine and Vivien (Giles) Lytle. A US Air Force Veteran and member of Mary, Mother of God Parish, Lylalee received an associates degree from CCAC and worked as a secretary for McKeesport Hospital, the former St. Denis Church in Versailles, and most recently for St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church. She joins her husband, the late Edwin J. Weldon, who passed away May 2, 2019. Lylalee is survived by her daughters Denise (Steve) Siviy of Winston-Salem, NC, Dawn (Wayne Carver) Forbes of Windsor, MA, and Deborah (John Lips) Schroeder of Versailles; her ten grandchildren Cassie, Edwin, Joey, Tabby, Nina, Kayla, Nathan, Jackie, Allison, and Shannon; her nine great-grandchildren; her sister Bonnie Vojnovich of Freedom; and also nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by her brother Blaine Lytle.

James M. Cavalancia, age 70 of Versailles, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024 in UPMC McKeesport Hospital. Born March 11, 1953 in Wilkinsburg, he was a son of the late Stephan and Margaret Lorraine (Schake) Cavalancia. A journeyman machinist, mostly with WabCo Air Brake of Wilmerding and most recently with American Shear and Knife in Homestead, James was a member of the CFU Lodge #146 of Versailles, the 11th Ward Club in McKeesport, and formerly the Versailles American Legion and Wilmerding Ukrainian Club. In his spare time, he enjoyed rooting on the Steelers, Penguins, and the University of Pittsburgh. James is survived by his son Mathew (Jennifer) Cavalancia of Elizabeth Twp. and their daughters Alessa and Lydia; and his long time companion Sandy Bezick, her children Tammy Waltonbaugh and Jimmy (Kristen) Bezick, and her grandchildren Ashley Waltonbaugh and Brianna Bezick. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers Steve (Marlene) and Rick Cavalancia.

Killian Scot Carolan, age 29 of North Huntingdon died January 8, 2024. He was born April 21, 1994 in Monroeville, a son of Todd and Nancy (Blinkhorn) Carolan. He graduated from Norwin Class of 2012 and University of Pittsburgh Johnstown with a Bachelor’s Degree in computer science. He was employed by ASA Software Solutions as a software engineer. He enjoyed flying kites, RC airplanes, RC cars, gaming, going to the casino, and hiking. He was preceded in death by grandparents John and Jackie Carolan, and his Aunt Brianne Huey. In addition to his parents Todd and Nancy Carolan, he is survived by sisters, Felicia Berkepile (Dan) and Alley Scott (Mike), grandparents Robert and Nancy Blinkhorn, aunts and uncles Bob Blinkhorn, Tim Blinkhorn (Diane), and Shawn Carolan (Susie), Heather Herr (Bryan), and his cats OJay and Blackie. Friends will be received Monday January 15, 10 AM – 12 PM followed by a service at 12 PM at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike. Interment will follow at Irwin Union Cemetery. Anna Jean (Fiore) Britner, 91, of North Versailles, went to be with the Lord, Tuesday, January 2, 2024. She was born March 4, 1932 in Wilkinsburg, a daughter of the late Michael and Julia P. (Mannetty) Fiore and was also preceded in death by her husband Sonny Britner. She operated Britner Tax Service for over 52 years and assisted her late husband in his business, Britner Generator Shop, West Wilmerding.
She was a devoted pastor of Holy Spirit Praise & Fellowship Center, Wilmerding and also as director of Brush Valley Christian Retreat. She was member of the West Wilmerding VFD Auxiliary and was a big Elvis Presley fan. She was a former member and first female president of the East Allegheny School Board serving from 1972-1977.
She was the loving mother of Carla (the late Mark) Heider and Michael J. Britner; cherished grandmother of John C. (Amie) Heider, Timothy M. (Jill) Heider and Rachel M. Bernard L. Opsitos, age 82, of North Huntingdon, passed away Tuesday, January 2, 2024. He was born August 14, 1941 in Homestead, and was one of ten kids to the late John and Agnes Opsitos. He worked for over 40 years as an automotive repairman for Earl Scheib before retiring. He loved Elvis Presley and his enjoyment of cars continued when he attending local car shows. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a grandson Andrew. His survived by his children Pam Opsitos of Irwin, Johnny Opsitos of Munhall, Phil Meighan of Nashville, Tennessee and Brandi Mayville of Irwin; and grandchildren Johnathon, Kimberly, Michael, Candice, Cody, Blake, Bella and Trysta.
