Ruth Serena, 92, of West Mifflin, PA, passed away Monday, August 21, 2023. She was born in Duquesne on July 31, 1931, and was the daughter to the late Nicholas and Loretta (Snyder) Schulte. Ruth was preceded in death by her loving husband of 57 years, John C. "Jack" Serena; and sisters, Dolores Zewe, Catherine Derhofer, Jane Steputis, Carole Petrozza; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Teresa Serena . John Robert Stefl, 89, of Elizabeth Township, passed into eternal life on August 21, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born November 5, 1933 in Mt. Pleasant and was the son of the late Rudolph Albert and Mary C. (Klamar) Stefl. John started his career with 28 years at Fort Pitt Steel in McKeesport working in maintenance, where he served as both Vice President and Union Steward. After closure of the plant, he worked in construction until retirement. With his wife, he delivered Meals on Wheels for Elizabeth Township for over 20 years; and for many years, he was able to provide his family, friends and Meals on Wheels clients with vegetables from his prolific vegetable garden.

Andrew Alan Jenkins, 75, of Dravosburg, formerly of Duquesne, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023, at Jefferson Hospital. He was born at Monessen Hospital on August 17, 1948, to the late William and Virginia Arnold Jenkins. He is survived by his life partner, Cheryl Dupak of Dravosburg, son Andrew W. Jenkins, of Lincoln Place, brother William (Sandy) Jenkins, or Irwin, and many nieces and nephews. Andrew was preceded in death by his first wife Donna Coberly, brother James Jenkins, and sister Pricilla Miranda. He worked as a Tool and Die maker for Fisher Body in West Mifflin for 40 years and was a member of the Auto Workers Union, the American Legion in Dravosburg as well as Port Vue, and served in the National Guard. Andrew was an excellent pool player and used to own the A.W. Pool Hall in McKeesport in the 1960s, was an amazing pencil drawing portrait artist, an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, loved singing and had an excellent voice, and was actively engaged with social media. Cynthia Marie (Fink) Kern, 66, of Munhall, passed away Thursday, August 17, 2023, at home. She was born June 5, 1957, in Homestead and was the daughter of Dorothy M. (Anderson) Fink of Munhall and the late Edward Gene Fink who passed away October 6, 2018. Cynthia was the Director of Clinical Research in the Office of Research Conduct and Compliance at the University of Pittsburgh, Oakland. She enjoyed reading, gardening, knitting, traveling, and most of all-spending time with loved ones. Cindy was wild like a flower and warm like the sun.

George had worked for the former US Steel Homestead Works and had 19 1/2 years of service. He was a US Air Force Veteran serving during the Vietnam War. for his service, he received the Citations for Combat Defense Ribbon, Expert Gun Ribbon, Good Conduct and Longevity. He served from 1963 to 1967 and was stationed in Turkey and Grand Forks Air Force Base.

Thomas B. Taylor, age 70, of McKeesport, died August 18, 2023, at home. Born April 22, 1953, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Samuel Paul and Anna (Capers) Taylor.
Thomas was a former machinist for U.S. Steel - Irvin Works. He was a member of St. Paul AME Church in McKeesport. Thomas used to enjoy roller skating and playing cards with family and friends.

A member of First Baptist Church in Brookville, she retired after 20 years as a bookkeeper for Matson's Lumber in Brookville. She loved animals, crafting, sewing, being outdoors, baking, and was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan. She enjoyed music and singing and music "carried her" after her husband passed away. Born September 26, 1952 in Stamford, NY, she was a daughter of the late William J. and Betty J. (Andrew) Shellhammer and wife of the late William L. Lawson. She is survived by daughter, Kimberly Hempel of Brookville; grandchildren, Aubree (Cameron) Johnson of Charleroi, Andrew Hempel of Export and Austin Hempel of West Newton; great-grandchildren, Naomi Rose Johnson and Roman Claude Johnson; siblings, Richard (Linda) Shellhammer, Pamela (Robert) Davis, Susan Walk and William (Cari) Shellhammer; also, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings, Judith Crawford and Ronald Shellhammer.

Carla Gene Harper, 63, of Dravosburg, formerly of McKeesport, passed away after a brief illness on Tuesday, August 15, 2023. She was born in McKeesport on January 19, 1960 and is daughter of the late Robert and Beatrice (Roll) Harper. She is a graduate of McKeesport Area High School. Carla was known for her generosity and big heart, and a talented cook who never used a recipe but could prepare a gourmet meal in minutes. She was a shy young lady who later in life could walk into a room of strangers and leave with a new friend. She was very well liked and respected by anyone she met or knew over the years. She enjoyed an occasional ride on the Harley Davidson, a good glass of wine, and trips to Las Vegas; but more than anything, she cherished every moment spent with her family, especially her grandchildren, Savia, Rylee, Khyzer, and Ahrenzo. Grandma (Nene) was the title she was most proud of. Carla is survived by her life partner Mark Golya, daughters, Christina Harper and Stephanie'e (Zachary Williams) Golya, sister Bonnie (John) Miller, and many nieces and nephews who she adored. She is now reunited with her mother, Beatrice Harper, and brothers, Robert Harper and Arthur (Jack) Harper. Carla has requested to have no visitation. Bailey of Duquesne and the late Patricia (Vavra) Bailey. He was employed in maintenance at St. Therese Plaza in Munhall, built model cars, liked music and had a passion for guitars.
