Margaret "Peggie" Kugler

July 29, 2021 |

By Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory | Posted in: Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory

Margaret “Peggie” (Rollason) Kugler, 93, passed away peacefully on the morning of July 28, 2021 at home surrounded by her family and loved ones. Born July 24th, 1928 in Buena Vista, Pennsylvania she was the only child of Elsie (Yost) Davenport and Roy Rollason. A 1946 graduate of McKeesport High School, she was a  woman with enormous love for family, faith, her 1980 Ford Mustang, handbags and shoes. To us she was a fashion icon. Never a hair out of place, her purse and shoes never clashed. Boy, did she know how to accessorize! Peggie had an affinity for floral centerpieces and made many beautiful arrangements for the altars and stages for Wesley United Methodist Church. Her home was decorated beautifully with center pieces as well and at Christmas time….. One can imagine the beautiful pieces she would have placed throughout the house. Peggie was the family historian. Anything that you ever wanted to know about her family she had the answer for. She knew who was married to whom and who the cousin is of the aunt no one ever heard of in that other state? Peggie and her late husband Fred were both on the building committee of Wesley United Methodist Church on Prescott Street in White Oak, Pennsylvania. She was that church’s secretary for over 25 years. She was a member of the Eastern Star and a Boom-Bah group that would go around to various nursing homes and entertain the residents. Peggie loved dancing, traveling, and meeting new people. After you met her you were never again going to be a stranger and she would always remember your name. In addition to working for her church, she also worked for PNC Bank, Ames, Zayres, G.C. Murphy Co., Immel’s, and S.S. White. Peggie volunteered at the Elizabeth Forward Historical Society and the McKeesport Regional History and Heritage Center. She made sure that her family never missed a meal and never could understand how many of us survived without breakfast especially since she would always say how her husband would “turn into a pumpkin” if supper was a tad bit late. There was always ice cream in the freezer and a cake on the counter.
