Marilyn Wood Baldwin

Marilyn Wood Baldwin, age 92 of West Mifflin, Pennsylvania, passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021, at Sycamore Estate in Duquesne, Pennsylvania. She was born December 15, 1928, in Wilmerding, Pennsylvania, also known as “Boyd Hill” to the late Percy “Sonny” Woods and Birdie Mae Woods Lodkey.  She relocated to Duquesne, Pennsylvania at an early age and was reared by her grandparents, the late Rev. William Woods and Sarah Winbush Woods.

The oldest of 11 children, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Eugene Baldwin; sister, Myrtle Hampton of California; and two brothers:  Charles Lodkey of Pittsburgh, PA and Franklin O. Lodkey of Wilmerding, PA. Marilyn was the sister of Eva (Clarence) Williams of Denver, CO;  Barbara J. Freeman (late James) of Jefferson Hills, PA;  Vera (Dave) Burke of Monroeville, PA:  Bhavananda Lodkey-Dekker (JanJaap Dekker) of Santa Cruz, CA;  Joseph A. Lodkey of San Francisco, CA;  and Doris Eleanor Lodkey of Monroeville, PA.

She was the mother of Faith Baldwin Bray (late Frederick A. Bray Sr.); and the love of her life, granddaughter Felicia Danita Bray.  She also was an inspiration to the children that she adored:  the late Betty Hughes Corbett, Beverly Hughes Knight (late Adolphus), Marva (Lewis) Haynes and John “Sonny” Hughes; “Special” Grandsons:  Elder Leslie E. Sandidge and Vernon “VJ” Cox Jr. She also was the godmother to Kim (Vaughn) Newberry; Marilyn Cotton; Dolores B. Sandidge; and Sidney Rae Eugene Tennon.

 Marilyn attended and graduated from Duquesne High School in 1946. She graduated from Duff’s Iron City Business College, Pittsburgh, PA in 1948. She furthered her education by attending Gary College and Indiana University Extension in Gary, Indiana from 1948-1950. She was employed by Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA, and retired in 1989 as an Administrative Secretary to Dr. Charles E. Copeland, Chief of General Surgery for 20 years. She also found time to share her musical talents and taught many children for years giving private piano lessons in her home.

James Robert “Jim” Kaiser 82, of Clairton, formerly of Erie and East McKeesport, passed away on Monday July 12th, 2021, at Jefferson Hospital. He was born in McKeesport on June 12th, 1939, to the late Arthur and Elizabeth Woodyard Kaiser. James was the loving husband of thirty years to Linda A. Kaiser. He is survived by his sons James Eric (Renee) Kaiser of Erie, and Robert Scott (Pam) Kaiser of Fairview, daughter Melissa Lynn (Robert) Steinbaugh of Erie, and stepdaughter Maura (Marc) Derstien of Telford, his brother Duane Arthur Kaiser of Alexandria VA Grandchildren Erica Kaiser, Tiffany Kaiser, Calvin Derstein and Tyler Derstein and grand dogs Ellie and Bo. James was a member and sexton of the Wilson Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed watching baseball and liked the Pittsburgh Pirates and St. Louis Cardinals and taking his annual vacation trips to Walt Disney World.

Dennis M. Glaub, age 73, of North Huntingdon, formerly of McKeesport, died July 13, 2021, at home.  Born July 7, 1948, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Frank and Helen (Gerondites) Glaub and beloved partner of Judith Wargovich for 28 years.  Dennis served in the Marines during the Vietnam War and was a member of the North Versailles VFW Post 8430.  He worked for Duquense Light and retired as a Lineman.  He enjoyed fishing, whether locally or taking trips to the Chesapeake Bay or Canada.

Peter Gaudino

Peter R. Gaudino, 80, of North Huntingdon, passed away Sunday, July 11, 2021 at his home.  He was born July 29, 1940 in Latrobe, a son of the late Peter T. and Patricia (McFeeley) Gaudino.  He was a member of St. Agnes Parish.  Prior to his retirement, Peter worked as the parts department manager at Hamilton Buick and Pontiac and Jons Cadillac; as a forklift operator at the Volkswagen New Stanton Plant;  and as an associate in the parts department at Kenny Ross Chevrolet.  He enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards, and playing the slot machines at all the local casinos, and was an avid Pittsburgh Penguins fan.  Peter was a loving father, grandfather and husband, and devoted his time caring for his wife, JoAnn before her passing in 2019.  In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas P. Gaudino.  He is survived by his son, Rick Gaudino and his wife, Margie; daughters, Michele Evans and her husband, Mark, Patti Andrison and her husband, Geoff; grandchildren, Katie (Julian Pacheco) and Tony Gaudino, Jennifer and Patrick Evans; and great-grandchildren, Vincent and Jordyn Pacheco.  There will be no visitation.  A memorial and interment service will be held for both Peter and JoAnn at a later date.  Please contact Rick Gaudino if you would like information regarding the memorial at 240-405-8039.  Donations may be made to All But Furgotten Animal Shelter.  Arrangements made by the James W. Edward Balanti, age 92, of McKeesport, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on July 11,2021.  Born June 26, 1929, in Braddock, he was the son of the late Hugo and Jean (Mazzoni) Balanti and husband of Carol (Giovenazzo) for 42 years.  
In addition to his wife, Ed is survived by children, Edward Balanti, Jr. and Debbie (Gary) Steimer; grandchildren, Bryan Balanti and Dana (Jim) Adams great grand dog Watson; sister, Virginia (John) Osley, many nieces, nephews, and special buddies next door, Gavin, Gannon, and Gracie.  
He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Grace DeNardo, and brother, Sylvester Balanti.  
Ed was a lifetime member of the Braddock Elks Lodge #883, the Wilmerding Loyal Order of Moose Lodge #86 and was the last paid Fire Chief of Braddock.  As an Usher and Eucharistic Minister at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Braddock, he was always active in his church.  Ed was also a member of Mary Mother of God Parish, St. Patrick Church. He always enjoyed crossword puzzles, sweet treats, and 5 o’clock happy hours in Myrtle Beach.

Scott, age 64, of Dravosburg, died July 7, 2021, at home, on his 14th wedding anniversary.  Born September 8, 1956, in McKeesport, he was the son of Artha (Westerburg) Scott and the late William Scott and loving husband of Debra (Abels) Scott.  Donald was a Vietnam War Era Veteran and served with the U.S. Navy.  He worked as a foreman with the Dravosburg Street Department and a big rig truck driver for nearly 40 years. His truck driving took him all over, and he enjoyed traveling throughout the east coast.
