Michael P. Carnahan, age 51, of Mt. Vernon, died January 13, 2021, at UPMC McKeesport. Born December 27, 1969, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late David E. and Mary Jane (Matuschek) Carnahan and the husband and best friend of Sandra (Buotte) Carnahan.

Michael was vice-president and general manager of Scalo Solar Solutions, a division of Burns & Scalo Roofing. He most recently completed the installation of the largest single sloped solar structure in the United States, located at Mill 19 in Hazelwood.

Sally H. (Jenkins) McCracken, age 92, of Uniontown, formerly of Munhall passed away on Thursday, January 14, 2021 at Hillside Manor Personal Care Home. She retired as a greeter for Wal-Mart in West Mifflin. A member of Glassport United Methodist Church, she enjoyed spending time at her cottage at Deep Creek and loved her dog, Gigi. She helped to manage McCracken Oldsmobile in Elizabeth for 30 years with her husband and son. Born May 12, 1928 in Elizabeth, she was a daughter of the late John and Helen (Bonno) Jenkins and wife of the late William G. “Bill” McCracken. She is survived by numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by son, William C. "Bill" McCracken, and brother, Thomas Jenkins. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Howard M.  Kern; sons, Chris (Angel) Kern of Liberty Borough and Jeff Kern of Elizabeth Twp.; brother, Walter H. (Bonnie) Hibner of Elizabeth Twp.; also, nieces and nephews.

James Berwick was the loving husband of 36 years to Irene L. Curry Berwick. He is survived by his sons Jimmer (Lisa) Berwick of Greenville, Tim (Isabel) Cotero of Buena Vista, and daughter Wendy (Scott) Wampler of Frederick Maryland, grandchildren Kirsty Lee Berwick of Greenville, Douglas Wampler of Squirrel Hill, and Ryan J. Wampler of Frederick, sisters Mary Sturkie of Columbia South Carolina and Kim (Brian) Slinsky of Litiz. James was preceded in death by his sisters Jenny and Patsy. He was a member of Clairton Sportsman club, the Lions Club of Dravosburg, and the Library Sportsman Club. He enjoyed fishing and trap shooting and liked operating the Ham Radio. Catherine "Kay" Vukovich, age 92 of Clairton, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 in Jefferson Hospital.  Born June 23, 1928 in Clairton, she was a daughter of the late John and Anna (Dokman) Vukovich.  A retired secretary for Westinghouse Corporation, Catherine was a member of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish, St. Clare of Assisi Church.  She is survived by her sister-in-law Dorothy Vukovich, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.  Besides her parents, Catherine was preceded in death by her brother Frank M. Vukovich, sisters Mary Markle and Nellie Vukovich, and Chris Markle.

Shirley A. Weitzel, 91, of Indian Lake, passed away January 8, 2021 after a short, fierce battle with Covid-19 at Laurel View Village. She was born December 19, 1929 in Ridley Park and was the daughter of the late Jack and Helen (Thompson) Alexander. She was the wife of 53 years to the late Robert D. Weitzel, Jr. Shirley was raised in Ridley Park, Delaware County and graduated from West Chester State College. She taught elementary school, primarily, History and Science, for 5th grade for 30 years. After she was chosen to work in the classroom with the Bicentennial Project of 1776, she became the author of Land O'Goshen, a historical novel, a Tale of Chester County and dedicated it to all of the boys and girls of Chester county, most especially to her children, Patty, Emily and Andrew. Shirley and her husband retired to Indian Lake in 1990 and loved their lake life, including much gardening, bird watching, traveling and community service, just as much as they loved their grandchildren and many beloved pets.
