Rose Marie Galaski, age 95, of Monessen, PA, died on Sunday, February 9, 2025. She was born in Latrobe, PA on September 22, 1929 and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Frances Walchok Grunwald. She was the wife of the late Steve Edward “Tepe” Galaski, who died on February 7, 2006. Rose was a beautician for many years along with her sister, Helen. She was a wonderful cook, baker, and an avid plant enthusiast. She was especially proud of her vegetable and rose gardens, as well as her many beautiful house plants.

Douglas A. Turk Sr., age 62 of Greensburg passed away on February 9, 2025. He was born on January 8, 1963 in McKeesport, a son of the late Andrew Turk Jr. and Joann Stark Turk. Doug was a graduate of Norwin High School in the class of 1982. Prior to his retirement, Doug was employed as a vocational-technical teacher where he instructed aspiring diesel mechanic technicians. He was also a volunteer firefighter for both the Circleville and Herminie Volunteer Fire Departments. In his free time, Doug enjoyed motorsports, flying remote controlled aircraft, and studying history, especially WWII. In addition to his parents, Doug was preceded in death by one brother David. He is survived by his beloved wife Mary Jo Zalakar Turk, two sons Douglas Turk Jr. and William Turk (and fiancée Jamie), one daughter Amanda Walker (and husband David) one brother William Turk, one sister Kathie Spoon, and grandchildren Miranda Turk, Lukas Walker, and Skylar Walker. Carol A. Jeffcoat, age 86 of Herminie, passed away on February 8, 2025. She was born on October 2, 1938 in McKeesport, a daughter of the late Ralph Weinel and Alice Gearing Weinel. Carol cherished her role as a homemaker and she always took pride in keeping a tidy house. In her free time, she loved to cook. In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband Ken in 2009, and one sister Linda Jeffcoat. Crystal Lynn Madison Johnson of McKeesport PA formerly of Belle Vernon PA passed away on January 30, 2025, at 45. Crystal was born on February 9, 1997, in Monongahela, Pennsylvania. She was born to Iris Smith Madison of McKeesport and Norman Madison Jr. of Michigan. She was one of two children.
Crystal was a graduate of Belle Vernon High School in 1997. She went off to further her education at Bradford School of Business in Pittsburgh PA. where she obtained her business management degree in 1999. After getting her degree, Crystal managed Dollar General in Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania. She’s then moved on to McKeesport beer barrel where she managed for numerous years. In that process, Crystal showed her love and devotion to many in the McKeesport community where she was very well-loved. Crystal was also employed with a touch above the rest, cleaning company proceeding her death.

Natalie (Dorosa) Drop, 74, of Irwin, passed away Friday, January 31, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 26, 1950 in McKeesport, a daughter of the late Maxim and Anne (Matanic) Dorosa. Natalie was a graduate of Temple University with a degree in Anthropology, and also graduated from the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing. She retired as a Registered Nurse.
She was a Past Worthy Matron of the Order of Eastern Star, Jeannette Chapter, and a member of the Eastern Star Bluebirds. She is survived by her son Timothy J. Drop, a sister Nadine Dorosa, a brother Maxim Dorosa (Mary), aunt Mary Matanic, and uncle Michael Matanic (Anita).

She was born August 21, 1929, in East McKeesport, a daughter of the late George H. Sr. and Emma (Loeffler) McBride and was also preceded in death by her beloved husband William D. McIntosh, sons Ronald A. McIntosh and Richard D. McIntosh, and siblings Lois Kelly, George H. McBride Jr., John F. McBride, and Elaine Costandinu. She is survived by her son William D. McIntosh Jr. and his wife Daryl; 3 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; a sister Dorothy Sinkinson; and nieces and nephews. Diane Marie Katchur Haeberlen, 76, of Henrico/Richmond, VA, passed away of multiple health issues at St. Mary’s Hospital on Jan 14, 2025.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three of her brothers, Ronald Katchur, Sr., Ernest “Skip” Katchur, and Christopher Katchur, Sr., and is survived by her wonderful son, A.B. Haeberlen, brother Robert Katchur, brother Michael Katchur, and many loving nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews.
Diane was born in McKeesport, PA on May 14, 1948 to Ernest Katchur and Irene Calochak. She was the third born of six kids, and was the only girl. As you can imagine, it was both a blessing and a curse. She was always outnumbered by the boys, but also protected by them.
She went to school in McKeesport and graduated in 1966.

Calvin Edward Davis, age 37, of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away on Friday, February 7, 2025, at home. Born October 19, 1987, he is the son of Kenneth Peer and Amy Jo (Davis) Peer. He was a channel lock factory worker in Meadville, PA. Calvin loved his city, the Steelers and Pirates, but was also a very loud Ohio state fan. He was passionate about nature and the Discovery Channel. He was a fantastic cook, even at a young age, and excelled at golfing, baseball, and football. Calvin could turn anything into an adventure and was incredibly goofy when he was around the people he loved. He was, is, and always will be a fierce protector of his siblings, even when he was a little irrational.
Besides his parents, he is survived by his children, Calvin Edward Davis Jr., Anastasia Davis, Charlette Davis; and Zia Powell;Fiance, Erica Luther of Espyville; brothers and sisters, Kenneth Peer, Victoria (Peer) Powell, Charlotte Peer, and Jayden Peer. He is also survived by his Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews.

Mary Ellen Benson, 76, of Monroeville, beloved daughter of Carl O. Benson and Mary Ellen (Powers) Benson, both deceased. Survived by brother Carl Joseph Benson and sister Christine E. (Benson) Imgrund, nieces Alane (Benson) Goldberg and Jessica (Benson) Smith and nephews James C. Imgrund and Steven C. Imgrund. Mary Ellen graduated from Penn State University in 1970, and the University of Pittsburgh in 1987 with a master’s degree in library science. She worked in various librarian capacities in her career and spent many years doing so at the Allegheny County Community College, Boyce Campus, where she was head librarian when she retired in 2016. Mary Ellen enjoyed helping the students at the school make the most of the library in their studies and continued working part-time in that capacity after her retirement. Mary Ellen was an exceptional and prolific knitter, often making beautifully knitted gifts for her family and friends, and she volunteered in her retirement making knitted items for those in need. Mary Ellen will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who knew her. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the McKeesport Carnegie Library to honor Mary Ellen’s love of both books and libraries. Jon A. (Jack) Warden passed away peacefully on Friday, February 7th. He was born June 22,1933 in Philadelphia, a son of the late James A. Warden and Theresa Barnhouse Warden. Jon graduated from McDonald High School in 1951 and later from the University of Pittsburgh. After attending high school during the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Coast Guard as an Aviation Machinist Mate and a member of a flight crew. Jon was retired from U.S. Steel and their subsidiary railroads in the industrial engineering and transportation departments. Later he worked as a rural Mail Carrier for a number of years. He was an avid Steelers and Pirates fan since the mid-forties. He coached boys’ basketball in the P.A.L. organization for 10 years and was an active member of the Markvue Manor recreation organization. He had an interest in old cars, having owned 2 classic cars. He enjoyed return trips to California, and for a number of years he spent the winter months in Boca Raton, Florida. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Donna (Slack) Warden. In addition to his parents, Jon was preceded in death by his infant daughter Dawn Ann, a sister Virginia Warden and a grandson Alex Krivoniak. He is survived by a daughter Diane Krivoniak (Dan) of Latrobe; two sons, Neal (Margaret) of North Huntingdon; Allen (Christine) of Irwin; seven grandchildren Lelia Warden, Martine (John) Krugh, Landon Warden, Shane Warden, Crista Krivoniak, Alexa Krivoniak and Tyler (Jenny) Warden, and five great-grandchildren Brynna, Lennon, Vance, Virginia and Sadie. Friends will be received at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM. Joann attended South Allegheny High School and later pursued her education further, earning her Associate's Degree from the Community College of Allegheny County. She had a varied career, working with warmth and dedication at Integra Bank, Super Duper, and Uni-Mart in Port Vue. Eventually, she retired from a career with the United States Postal Service, where she served the West Mifflin and Hazelwood communities with pride.

Hartley Charles King, 91, a prominent local entrepreneur and restaurateur, passed away comfortably at his home in Elizabeth Township on Friday, January 31, 2025. Born in McKeesport, Pa. in 1933, Hartley was the son of the late Howard and Thelma (Dreiling) King and brother of the late Wayne H. King of White Oak and Melbourne Beach, Fla. A 1951 graduate of McKeesport High School, Hartley proudly attended Lehigh University, where he was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity, earning a B.S. in Business Administration in 1956. He then served in the U.S. Army as Specialist Fourth Class in the 557th Engineer Company (LE) stationed in Fort Lewis, Wash., before returning home to work in sales at King and Keeney, Inc., an oil distributorship co-founded by his father.

Camille had a keen sense for fashion and accessorizing and was always the queen of the runway. She was very athletic also. Her favorite sport was swimming and she competed in multiple Special Summer Olympics. Everyone was very proud of the numerous medals she won. Camille was a gift to her family. The life lessons that she taught them and stories she created will live with them forever.
