Geraldine “Gerry” Saccameno, 89, passed peacefully Monday, October 6, 2025, at the St. Anne Home in Greensburg, surrounded by family.
Gerry, affectionately known as “Jammy” by her family, was born December 14, 1935, in Braddock, to the late Albert and Julia Yurko. In 1949, she met the love of her life, Joe, at the movie theater on Braddock Avenue. The two went on to marry, raise three children, and build a legacy of love, laughter, and cherished memories together. Over the years, they were blessed with four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren whom they loved deeply.
Gerry was a true caregiver. She selflessly cared for her father and brother following her mother’s early passing. She lovingly raised three children of her own and she played a pivotal role in helping to raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Gerry’s life was defined by her devotion to family, her devout faith, and her humorous wit. She loved her husband and family unconditionally and was equally loved in return by all those who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Elizabeth W. “Betty” Brinker, 91, of North Versailles, died Sunday October 5, 2025. She was born April 14, 1934, in East McKeesport, a daughter of the late Adam H. and Elizabeth M. (Skocz) Wojcik. Betty was a retired senior clerk for Verizon, a member of Linway Presbyterian Church, North Versailles, and was a former meals-on-wheels volunteer. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Richard A. “Al” Brinker, her daughter Ruth Ann Vestrat, and siblings Leo J. Wojcik and Ruth Baker. She is survived by nephews Greg, Kenneth, and Raymond Wojcik; great nieces and nephews; and her neighbor and care giver Roberta DiMango and her family. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 9, at the Forgie-Snyder Funeral Home, 1032 Broadway, East McKeesport, where a funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 10. Kay E. Beech, age 73 of Jeannette, passed away on October 7, 2025. She was born on July 13, 1952 in McKeesport, a daughter of the late Raymond and Gail Rauthey. Kay was a dedicated member of the Lighthouse of Hope Church in Greensburg, where she sang in the choir. She was a graduate of Elizabeth Forward High School, and she earned a two-year degree in nursing from Westmoreland County Community College. Kay went on to fulfill a career as a medical assistant at Medical Wellness Associates in Jeannette. She was known to be a people-person, and she liked to cook in her free time. In addition to her parents, Kay was preceded in death by one brother, Keith Rauthey. She is survived by her beloved husband of 53 years, Bradley C. Beech. Friends will be received at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, on Sunday from 2 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM. Born May 25, 1930 in Clairton, she was a daughter of the late Caesar and Jennie (Perifano) DeChicchis and wife of the late Harry Rothey. Andrew "Duke" Dyakon, age 99 of North Huntingdon, passed away on October 6, 2025, at Redstone Highlands, North Huntingdon. He was born on April 19, 1926, in Duquesne, a son of the late Frank Dyakon and Pauline Kukekuch Dyakon Krotovich. Duke was a baptized member of the Church of the Brethren, where he taught Sunday School for many years. He attended Norwin Christian Church later in life, where he thoroughly enjoyed his role as a greeter on Sunday mornings. He loved the Lord with all of his heart, and he proudly shared the Good News of Jesus Christ whenever and wherever he could. Duke was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during WWII. He was honorably discharged with numerous decorations and citations. Following his military service, Duke went on to fulfill a career as a Housing Manager for the Allegheny County Housing Authority. He was always passionate about baseball, having pitched for both the Duquesne Zemps and the US Army. In his free time, Duke enjoyed building things with his hands, and he looked forward to working on a new project. He was always willing and happy to lend a hand to others. He was a loving and devoted husband to his wife of 62 years, Audrey McNally Dyakon. Most memorably, Duke always had a big smile, a warm hug, and an "I love you" for his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Audrey, in 2009, and one son Gregg Dyakon. He is survived by one son, Andrew Dyakon (wife Roberta), two daughters, Barbara Palmieri (husband Greg), Nancy Scopelitis (husband Steven), daughter-in law Lynn Dyakon, 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Kimberly “Kimmy“ Lynn Hawk, 59, of Liberty Boro, passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital. She was born in McKeesport on May 18, 1966, to Marian Virginia Hawk Clay. Kimberly was the loving wife of Frank Wible for 27 years, of Liberty Boro. She is survived by her husband, Frank Wible of Liberty Boro; son, Jared Heckert of West Mifflin; step-children, Ronnie (Bobbi) Wible of Baldwin and Tina Wible of Baldwin; grandchildren, Shyanna, Giana, and Aliyah; many cousins, as well as her beloved dog, Shadow. Flo obtained a Bachelors of Education and worked her entire career for the South Allegheny School District. David Alan "Beamer" Stanton, age 74, of Elizabeth, passed away on Sunday, October 5, 2025 surrounded by his family at home. Born October 20, 1950 in McKeesport, he was the son of the late George Hall and Madelyn Marie (Hibbs) Stanton. David retired from Bettis Atomic Laboratory in West Mifflin where he worked as a telecommunications analyst. He was a member of St. Joachim and Anne Parish, St. Michael Church in Elizabeth, a member of the Star Trek group, USS Galaway, an avid Disney and Star Trek fan, and a poker enthusiast. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, and grandfather. David is survived by his wife Patti A. William E. Potts, Jr., age 71, of McKeesport, died October 4, 2025, at home with his family by his side. Born December 28, 1953, in New Kensington, he was the son of the late William E. and Gloria (Tosi) Potts and husband of Kathy (Hall) Potts. Bill devoted 37 years of his life to U.S. Steel, working diligently as a product wrapper and loader in the sheet finish department at Irvin Works. His commitment to his craft and his solidarity as a member of the Steel Workers Union reflect the spirit and resilience of a generation of hardworking men and women. He was also a proud member of SOAR (Steelworkers Organization of Active Retirees), where he remained engaged in the lives of his fellow retirees. Before becoming a steelworker, Bill was a member of the Plasterers' Union, where he learned the trade from his father. Throughout his life, Bill found joy in the simple pleasures. He cherished his fur babies, Goldie & Buddy. He enjoyed spending time with his family, and he loved being at camp. Before getting sick, he loved drinking his beer, especially at camp. He was all about making memories, no matter who he was with. He cherished every moment he spent with his family, placing them at the heart of all he did.

Mary Ann (Novotny) Zilinskas, age 91, of North Huntingdon, formerly of West Mifflin, passed away peacefully surrounded by her daughters on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Grandview Estates in Elizabeth, PA. She was born on May 14, 1934, in Homestead, PA, to the late John and Mary (Mikula) Novotny.
A member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in North Huntingdon, Mary Ann cherished her Slovak heritage, was a member of the First Catholic Slovak Union and enjoyed sharing in the joys of family life raising her children and being a homemaker. In her younger years, she loved going to dances and bowling. Mary Ann adored spending time with her family and supporting her children and grandchildren at their many music, sporting, and dance events. Her interests included caring for her beloved cats and plants, reading, playing cards, shopping with her daughters, and playing the slots on occasion. Mary Ann had a zest for life and loved to travel and took many memorable trips to Las Vegas with her daughters and to California to visit her son and husband’s family.
Mary Ann was married to the late Victor M. Zilinskas for 65 wonderful years. She is survived by her children: Victor (Rosalinda) Zilinskas of Palo Alto, CA; Susan A. Zilinskas of North Huntingdon; and Melissa Ann (Mark A.) Prutz of North Huntingdon. She was a proud grandmother to Victor Q. Zilinskas and Owen Marek, as well as Braydon, Nicholas, and Mila Ann Prutz. Mary Ann was preceded in death by her siblings: John (Agnes) Novotny, Pauline (James) Nieding, and Frank (the late Charlotte and late Evelyn) Novotny.

Kenneth A. Zirkle Sr., age 79, of Port Vue, died October 2, 2025, at his home. Born February 9, 1946, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Haskell and Mary Ann (Cosanella) Zirkle and husband of the late Marlene (Geary) Zirkle.
Kenneth was a dedicated Journeyman painter for UPMC, contributing his skills and craftsmanship. Outside of his work, he possessed a creative spirit, finding fulfillment in painting and drawing, activities that brought him great joy and allowed him to express his artistic talents. He also cherished tending to his home and lawn, ensuring his surroundings reflected the care he poured into them. A devoted member of St. Nicholas of Myra Byzantine Catholic Church, Kenneth found solace and community in his faith. His love for his family was a cornerstone of his existence. Kenneth treasured moments spent with children, sharing laughter, stories, and a sense of wonder that will be dearly remembered by all who knew him.

Richard A. "Rick" Biega, 74, of White Oak, passed away Friday October 3, 2025 after a short, but intense, battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born May 29, 1951 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Francis "Frank" Biega and the late Helen (Swiencki) Biega Evanovich. Rick was a very active member of The Christy Park United Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, was a lay leader, and was on the Pastoral Board. He worked as a customer service engineer for Xerox of Pittsburgh for over 25 years, and after his retirement also worked at Enterprise in Irwin. Rick was also a professional photographer. He and his wife Sharon, also had a photography business, R & S Photography, where he did wedding photography, family photos and also his favorite, scenic photography. He enjoyed children and loved to make others laugh. He was very handy, and could fix almost anything, if not he would still give his best attempt. He will be greatly missed.
