Fannie "Gooch" (Giangarlo) Baldock, age 86 of Clairton, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2020 in Jefferson Hospital. Born July 7, 1933 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late Angelo and Eramina (Ferrara) Giangarlo. A retired janitress at US Steel - Irvin Works in West Mifflin, Fannie was a member of St. Clare of Assisi Parish in Clairton. She is survived by her children John Baldock of Baldwin and Denise (Jerry) Haburjack of Beechview; her grandchildren Andrew, Brandon, and Lance Haburjack; her great-grandchildren Harper, Hayden, Hadley, and Olivia; and also nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Fannie was preceded in death by her siblings Marie, Vincent, and Julio (Marge) Giangarlo; John and Attilio Policastro; and Regis Ferrara.

William J. Brkovich, age 82 of North Huntingdon, passed away on Friday, January 3, 2020 in The Grove at Irwin. Born May 5, 1937 in Versailles, he was a son of the late Matthew and Mildred (Brketic) Brkovich. A member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church in North Huntingdon and a US Army Veteran of the Korean War, William was the former Chief of Police of both Versailles Borough and North Huntingdon Township, a flight instructor at both Rostraver and Allegheny County Airports, and a member of the Operating Engineers Local #66. He was a member of the Allegheny and Western PA Chiefs Association, the FOP #91, the White Oak American Legion, CFU Versailles Lodge #146, the Civil Air Patrol at the Allegheny County Airport, and a graduate of FBI Training School. Besides his parents, William was preceded in death by his children James and Roxanne Brkovich and his siblings Ann Tucker and George, "Peaches," Frank, and John Brkovich. He is survived by his wife Loretta (Goreski) Brkovich; his son Lester "Boo" (Jamie) Brkovich of McKeesport; his stepchildren Marlene (Jeff Brohman) Antonelli of Lakeworth, FL, Michelle Antonelli of North Huntingdon, and Martin (Risa) Antonelli, Jr. of North Huntingdon; his grandchildren C.J., Sarah, and Brian; his sister Katherine Carr of Versailles; and also nieces and nephews.

Kenneth Edward Kaczka, age 71 of Liberty Borough, passed away on Wednesday, January 1, 2020 in the VA Hospital Healthcare System - University Drive Campus, Pittsburgh. Born May 10, 1948 in Braddock, he was a son of the late Joseph E. and Irene A. (Kollar) Kaczka. A parishioner of St. Mark's Parish in Liberty Borough and a union member of the IBEW Local #1919, Kenneth was a decorated veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving with valor and distinction in combat in the Vietnam War and earning the Bronze Star and Purple Heart. He was also a member of the Liberty Veterans Association. Kenneth is survived by his siblings Joseph A. (Karen) Kaczka of Avon Lake, OH, Donald (Judy) Kaczka of Liberty Borough, Kathy Kaczka of Penn Hills, Larry (Linda) Kaczka of South Park, and Mary Ann Perkins of Hidden Valley; and his nieces and nephews: Michael, Jacob, Levi, Nicholas, and Patrick Kaczka, Hannah Camic, Marena Wood, and Chelsea Perkins.

Brock A. Biller, age 52 of Sarasota, FL, passed away suddenly in Jefferson Hospital on January 1, 2020. Born July 23, 1967 in Connellsville, he was the son of the late Bill and Alberta (Hyatt) Biller. Brock was the owner of Green Goat Landscaping in Sarasota, and served 4 years in the US Air Force. He is survived by his siblings Troy (Mia) Tamburri of Baldwin, William and Brent (Lisa) Biller, both of Connellsville, Shawn Tamburri of Miami, FL, Babbette (Tony) Miele of Uniontown, and Heather Biller of Freeport; and his special friend Kathy Servich. Brock is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Edward J. Balog, Sr., age 80 of McKeesport, passed away on Tuesday, December 31, 2019 in UPMC McKeesport. Born July 31, 1939 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late George and Anna (Sopp) Balog. A member of St. Patrick's R.C. Church in McKeesport, Edward received his Bachelors of Science in Industrial Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh and worked as an industrial engineer with US Steel, Westinghouse, Modulus, and Teledyne. He finished his working career as a maintenance supervisor at Mayview Hospital and also taught plant layout and design at CCAC Boyce Campus in Monroeville. In his spare time, he was a car buff, a cat lover, and a talented handyman. Most importantly, Edward is now reunited with the love of his life, the late Pauline (Cherepko) Balog, who passed away August 26, 2011. He is now truly at peace. Edward is survived by his children Edward J. (Rhonda) Balog, Jr. of North Huntingdon, David G. (Kristina) Balog of Saegertown, Marie (John) Crupie of North Huntingdon, and Diane (Phil) DePietro of Penn Twp.; his grandchildren Courtney and Taylor Crupie; Jake and Allison DePietro; and Justin, Dylan, Brittney, Nathan, Zachary, and Mikayla Balog; and his cat Nikki.

George R. Bercik, age 83 of Gill Hall, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2019 in Grandview Estates, Elizabeth Twp. Born May 28, 1936 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late George and Anna (Pavlik) Bercik. A retired mining engineer at the US Bureau of Mines in South Park, George was a Veteran of the US Army and an avid birder and naturalist. He is survived by his children Joseph M. Louise P. Mandekic, age 87 of McKeesport, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2019 in UPMC McKeesport. Born June 21, 1932 in East Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of the late Andrew and Sophia (Gorence) Zupancic. A 1950 graduate of Scott High School, Louise worked as a secretary for Mine Safety Appliance, Inc. of Wilkinsburg. She was a parishioner of St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church in McKeesport, was a past president of the Christian Mothers' Assoc. of both Sacred Heart and St. Martin de Porres Parishes, was a member of the CFU Lodge #3; and an active volunteer at McKeesport Hospital and numerous area locations. Louise is survived by her husband William M. Mandekic; her children Cynthia (Rodger) Downes of McKeesport, Gary (Diana) Mandekic of Derry Twp., Daniel (Samantha) Mandekic of Hopwood, and Darlene (Albert) Fine of Forward Twp.; her grandchildren Ryan Mandekic and Alyssa, Danica, and Chloe Fine; her great-grandchildren Alex and Denver; and also nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Andrew Zupancic and twin brother Louis Zupancic.

Allen R. "Skip" Mayhugh, age 86, of Elizabeth, passed away on Sunday, December 22, 2019 at Jefferson Hospital. He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War and was stationed in Japan where he met his wife and lifelong friend, Setsue. After serving in the Army, he returned home and worked in construction and part-time farming. He was a part-time policeman in Elizabeth Borough in the early 1970s and in 1984, he founded A&M Recycling in Elizabeth. Born January 20, 1933 in Forward Twp., he was a son of the late Kenneth and Mabel (Bernhardy) Mayhugh. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Setsue K. (Kisu) Mayhugh; daughters, Cathy Pierce of Elizabeth, Susie Mayhugh of Tucson, AZ, Jackie (Robert) Salka of Forward Twp., and Toni Mayhugh of Elizabeth; son, John H. Mayhugh of Elizabeth and Jim Mayhugh of Elizabeth; grandchildren; sisters, Shirley Heath of Townville and Mary Patello of Waltersburg; also, nieces and nephews.
