Lois L. (Ochs) Beard, 91, of North Huntingdon, died Thursday, August 24, 2023. She was born April 6, 1932 in Wilmerding, a daughter of the late Walter E. and Anna Marie (Master) Ochs. Lois was a retired secretary working for Dormont Manufacturing in Delmont and Redstone Highlands in North Huntingdon. She was a Collegian in the Women of the Moose, Lodge 171, Irwin and enjoyed bowling. She was a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church, North Huntingdon. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband William J. Beard Sr., her son William J. Beard Jr., and siblings Raymond Ochs, Jane Mann and Agnes Rowles. She is survived by her children Cheryl Ann (Jeff) O’Neill of North Huntingdon and James W. (Vivian) Beard of Newport News, VA; her grandchildren Jeffrey O’Neill and his fiancé Tabytha Sant, Brittne Beard, and James W. Beard; also niece and nephew Nancy (John) Harr and Thomas Rowles.

Robert “Bud” K. Miller

Robert “Bud” K. Miller, age 79, of North Versailles, passed away surrounded by family on Saturday, August 26, 2023 from complications of ALS. He was born January 26, 1944 in Braddock, the son of the late Virginia Wagner and John Miller. Bud served honorably in the Army and was stationed in Germany. After his service, he worked for over 31 years at Westinghouse Electric as a Senor Technician. He was also the owner of Dutch-N-Dads sports card shop for many years and continued his love of cards at the Rossi Flea Mart. His other passions included working on his PT Cruisers and model trains. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 43 years Joanne A. Miller.

Rita V. (Hensler) Marrow, 90, of North Versailles, died Tuesday, August 29, 2023. She was born March 13, 1933 in Duquesne, a daughter of the late George and Angeline (Vash) Hensler. Rita was a member of Linway Presbyterian Church, North Versailles, where she served as a deacon. She enjoyed camping and was a member of the National Campers and Hikers Association and the Slippery Rock Campground. She was a longtime member of the Green Valley VFD Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed ladies card club. She was a former Cub Scout den mother and was also a huge Disney fan. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband William K. Marrow, a son Kenneth “Bear” Marrow, and siblings, Kenneth Hensler, Raymond Hensler, Jean Castile, Dolores Marks, and Mert Binkney. She is survived by her children David Marrow (Sherre Lee) of Harrison City, Glenn Marrow (Louise) of McKeesport, and Rev. Robert Marrow (Beth) of Naples, FL; her grandchildren Charles Spicuzza (Heather), David K. Marrow (Christy), Michael Marrow (Brittany), William Marrow (Ben Fine), Nicole Marrow (Meghan), Rachel Marrow (Dom Zappa), and Abigail Marrow (Koleson Smith); great grandchildren Nate, Chance, Gabriella, Blaze, Kirsten, Anthony James, Shelby, Dylan, Lylah, Charley, and Christian; also nieces and nephews.

Robert C. Rothrauff, 92, of East McKeesport, died Tuesday August 1, 2023, at home. He was born January 21, 1931 in Pittsburgh a son of the late Charles and Pauline (Polinski) Rothrauff. He was an ironworker and he retired from Allegheny County Works Department and was a member of Mary Mother of God Parish formerly St. Robert Bellarmine Church, East McKeesport. Roe and Bernice loved to travel to Hawaii, the Bahamas, Alaska and many national parks. They bought a house that was over 100 years old and spent many years remodeling and improving it.

Leighty. She worked as a cook for the Lunch Lady on Wheels in Irwin. William “Bill” J. Forbes

William “Bill” J. Forbes, age 71, formerly of Ruffsdale, passed away peacefully on Thursday July 27, 2023, with his wife of nearly 51 years by his side at Transitions Healthcare in North Huntingdon. Born in McKeesport to the late Cletus Forbes and Grace Burchell, Bill was one of three children. Bill is a graduate of Norwin High School and would eventually further his career by becoming a civil engineer and retiring as owner of Forbes Consulting. Bill’s love for his family was evident to those around him and he was known for being a proud and loyal husband and father. He most enjoyed spending time with his family, playing guitar, gun smithing, and lived to hunt and enjoy the outdoors. Bill’s close friends, like Mike (Suzi) Trimboli, were held very near and dear to his heart and his appreciation for them should not be forgotten.

William “Bill” J. Doyle Jr., age 93, of Mt. Lebanon, formerly of North Versailles, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2023. He was born December 22, 1929 in Philadelphia, a son of the late William and Helen Doyle. Bill was a career Navy veteran Lieutenant Commander with 22 years of service. He then went on to teach NJROTC and history at McKeesport High School for 20 years before retiring. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of over 58 years Elizabeth “Betty” Doyle; one grandson Andy Beck; brother Frank Doyle; and sisters Helen Gunning, Johanna Hudson and Katherine Tansky. He is survived by sister Frances McGee and brothers Christopher (Cass) Doyle and Robert Doyle and his children Mary Ellen Pellegrino of Ross Township, William J. Doyle III of Linton, Indiana, JoAnn Doyle of Alameda, California, Margaret (Bob) Clay of West Mifflin and Terese (Bill) Beck of Mt. Donna Maxwell Westcoat, 85, of North Huntingdon passed away at home on Monday, July 24, 2023, after a long battle with cancer. She was born September 9, 1937 in McKeesport, a daughter of the late Graydon & Ethel Maxwell. After graduating from McKeesport High School in 1955, she went on to study Education at Edinboro Teachers College. Donna loved being a 6th grade teacher in the McKeesport school district in her younger days and she also did some tutoring and substitute teaching throughout her life. She is survived by her devoted husband of over 27 years Fred Westcoat; sister Brenda Hoffman (Ralph); children Robin Toops (Jeffery) and Darren Hensel (Bren); step-children Scott Westcoat (Kathy), Warren Westcoat (Eve) and Ellen Jordan (Michael); her cherished grandchildren Max, Seth, Lyla, Joanie, Maddie, Trevor, Ashley, Catherine and Craig; and many nieces, nephews & cousins.

Lawrence “Larry” P. Connors, age 88, of Irwin, passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2023. He was born October 6, 1934 in Helena, Montana, the son of the late Lawrence A. and Doris M. Connors. Upon graduating from Gonzaga University with a degree in chemical engineering, Larry was hired by Westinghouse in Pittsburgh. He continued his education at Carnegie Tech where he earned a degree in electrical engineering. He worked as an engineer his whole career. Larry loved traveling, cooking, and reading about history. His lifelong love of learning continued at the University of Pittsburgh in retirement.

Bob was a Navy veteran, retired from Union Railroad, Pittsburgh, and he was an avid golfer. Edward L. Mandich, age 93, of East McKeesport, passed away Tuesday, June 27, 2023.  He was born February 2, 1930 in East McKeesport, a son of the late Mirko and Rose Mandich. He was a US Army Korean War veteran that went onto have a long career as a postal worker for the US Mail. Paul E. Merlin, 85, of Irwin, died Saturday June 17, 2023. He was born March 6, 1938 in McKeesport, a son of the late Ernest and Mildred (Montgomery) Merlin. Paul was co-owner of Blazer Diamond Products and Pitt Industrial Diamond Products, of North Huntingdon. He was a graduate of Penn State University, McKeesport Campus, and was a big Penn State fan belonging to the Nittany Lion Club and the Penn State Alumni Association. He attended Penn State football games for many years.

He was active with Ducks Unlimited and Pirates Charities and was past President of the West Hempfield Recreation Association. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Emma L. (Brady) Merlin; his children Christopher P. Merlin and his wife Jennifer of Murrysville and Leeann M. Steel and her husband William of Irwin; his brother Glenn R. Merlin and his wife Nancy of Greensburg brother in law Patrick J. Brady and his wife Claudia; seven nieces Lisa, Lori, Amy, Diane, Kim, Cassie, and Patricia; also his best buddies Izzy and Bailey.
