Edward E. “Gene” Edwards, age 92, died Thursday, Nov. 11, 2021, peacefully surrounded by his family.

Formerly of North Versailles. Born in Braddock, PA on February 12, 1929 to the late David and Agnes (Murphy) Edwards  Beloved husband of 68 years to the late Martha (Blasko) Edwards. Cherished father to Edward Jr (Sandra) Edwards of Export,  Patrick (Diane) Edwards of Fredericksburg, VA, Barbara (Terry) Jackson of North Huntingdon, Kathleen (Denny) Yates of Ross Township, Marcy (Ernie) Junstrom of West Mifflin, Judy (Mark) Sistik of Forest Hills, and Paul (Stacey) Edwards of Harrison City. Loving grandfather to 16 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

He was a member of St Robert Bellarmine church in East McKeesport, a founding member of the St Robert Bellarmine Men’s Club, member and past Grand Knight of the Duquesne/West Mifflin Knights of Columbus, council 4210.  He was retired from United States Steel after 44+ years of service in both the Edgar Thompson and Homestead Works plants. He was a veteran of the 8th Army, I Corps, Army of the Occupation in Japan. Gene was a man of great faith in God and love for his family. He enjoyed spending time with his family and time at their summer cottage at Pymatuning Lake.  He will forever be missed by those who love him and now back in the arms of the love of his life.

George C. Booker, 84, of Duquesne, was born November 21, 1936 in Braddock, PA. He was the beloved son of Helen Booker (deceased). George departed this life on November 5, 2021 at UPMC Mercy, Pittsburgh, PA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jane Booker. 

He attended North Braddock High school (Scott High), where he was the ball and bat receiver for the baseball team. George worked various jobs including duct, vent & chimney cleaning before retiring from the West Mifflin School District where he worked for many years in their Janitorial Department.

George is well known around Braddock, Rankin, & Duquesne could not go anywhere without someone greeting him. George Booker met his wife Jane of 21 years at the Jerusalem Baptist Church in Duquesne, PA where they would also wed on George’s birthday November 21, 1996. Later they moved & remained at the Payne Chapel A.M.E Church in Duquesne.

George loved putting together his model cars, planes, and boats. He enjoyed organizing his tools, he like to collect different kinds of pocketknives. He likes to go fishing, He loved to watch his favorite football team the Pittsburgh Steelers and the many family gatherings.

Jacquelyn Clare Harvey

Jacquelyn Clare Harvey was born May 5, 1929 in East McKeesport, PA to Mary and Roy Harvey. She attended Catholic Schools and graduated from Duquesne University in 1951 with her degree in Music. She was a woman dedicated to education her whole life.

Jackie taught music in PA before moving to St James where she taught music and was chorus director in the Middle Country School District for 25 years. She was an instrumental part of the New Lane School outdoor residential education program.

Jackie volunteered in her home town area in the Religious Education Programs carrying that love when she became a member of the Parish of Sts Philip and James. There she was honored by the Diocese of Rockville Centre with the St Elizabeth Ann Seton Medal, the Pope John XX111 Medal and the St Pius X award for her many years of service including being Religious Education Coordinator.

Jackie taught Bridge at OLLI as well as being an avid player. She enjoyed attending The Metropolitan Opera and Carnegie Hall. She gardened, picked berries and made jam. She loved trialing new recipes and serving friends the results. Her fondness of dogs led her to dog sitting. Never without her Rosary Beads, she prayed daily with the 3rd Glorious Mystery being her favorite.

Howard K. Weber

Howard K. Weber, of North Huntingdon, died Monday November 8, 2021. He was a son of the late William and Katherine (Domiano) Weber and was also preceded in death by his brothers William, Kerry, and Frederick W. Weber. Howard retired as Principal of Woodland Hills High School and was a former Wrestling coach at Greensburg and Churchill High Schools.. He was also a Marine veteran and retired from the Marine Corps as a Master Gunny Sergeant.

He was Commandant of both the Mon Valley Leathernecks and Marine Corps League. Howard was a founding member of Rescue 8 Ambulance, North Huntingdon and served as a Norwin School Board director for over 29 years.

Peter worked at the former US Steel National Tube Works and also worked for the United Steelworkers Union. Adam “A.T.” Joseph Toth, 38 of Jefferson Hills, formerly of Clairton, passed away on Friday, November 12, 2021. He was born at UPMC Magee Women’s Hospital in Pittsburgh on January 27, 1983, to Daniel J. and Audrey L. (Inks) Toth of Clairton. Adam was the loving husband of 12 years to Krystal M. (Vigliotti) Toth of Jefferson Hills, formerly of Clairton. He is survived by his parents Daniel and Audrey, his wife Krystal, and his son Liam J. Toth. He is also survived by his brother Nathan Toth of Clairton as well as many aunts, uncles, nephews, cousins, and his paternal grandparents Joseph and Fredericka Toth of Donora, formerly of Clairton. Further survivors include his 2 beloved dogs, Kittie and Khloe. Other survivors are his brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, and his father and mother-in-law Ronald and Susan Vigliotti. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Samuel Inks, Sr. and Audrey Inks. Adam worked as a contamination worker at the Bettis Atomic Plant for 12 years. He enjoyed 3D printing, creating and listening to music, hunting, and acquiring collector’s items. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday, November 16, 2021, from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at S.M. FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 432 N. 6th St, Clairton, PA 15025. Burial will occur at Round Hill Cemetery at a later date. Giammario, age 97 of Greenock, passed away on Friday, November 12, 2021 at Concordia of Monroeville.  Born November 24, 1923 in West Newton, he was a son of the late Joseph and Florence (DiSantis) Giammario.  A US Army Staff Sergeant during World War II, Henry served in Normandy, France and Germany.  He retired from Equibank where he was a Trust Officer for over 25 years.  He was a member of Mary, Mother of God Parish and the Croatian Fraternal Union, Lodge 146 of Versailles.  Henry is survived by his wife Dorothy (Kisan) Giammario; his daughters Deborah Monaco of Plum Boro, Pamela (Jim) Jeltema of Bellebrook, OH, and Beth (Gregory) Smith of Indian Rocks Beach, FL; his four grandchildren; his one great grandson; his three step grandchildren; his five step great grandchildren; and also nieces and nephews.

  Josephine Panek, 101, of Glassport, died Nov. 11, 2021 peacefully at home, surrounded by her family.  She is the daughter of the late Val and Salamina Karnash and wife of the late John Panek.  She is survived by her sons John Panek and William Panek; daughter Loretta (Bob) Lee; grandchildren Robert (Sherrie) Lee, Lisa (John) Dolinar, Greg (Maria) Lee , John (Kelly) Lee, Kristie Panek and Vanessa Panek; great grandchildren Robert (Caty) Lee, Marcy (Tim) Smith, Jenna (Tyler) Berger, Morgan Dolinar, Nicholas Lee and Amanda Lee; great great grandchildren Brynn and Ethan; also and nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by brothers Val, Joe and Stanley Karnash and sisters Blanche Pasinski and Helen Michalowicz.  Josephine was a member of St. Joachim and Anne Parish. She loved polka music, making pierogies and visiting the casinos. Friends received Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport on Sun. from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7.  A funeral mass will be held Mon. 10:00 am at Queen of the Rosary Church with Father Miroslaus Wojcicki.  Interment following St. Mary's Polish Cemetery.

Eleanor Elizabeth "Betty" Cwiek, age 91, of McKeesport, died November 10, 2021, at home.  Born December 11, 1929, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Martin Cwiek and Anna Zebrowski.
Betty received her Bachelor's Degree from Seton Hill University and then Duke University for her internship.  She was a registered dietitian and head dietitian at Divine Providence Hospital.  At the hospital, she always enjoyed her interactions with the Steelers players who were there for treatment.

Daniel S. Vrabel

Daniel S. Vrabel, age 70, of Elizabeth Twp., died November 9, 2021. Born September 15, 1951, in Clairton, PA, he was the son of the late Albert J. and  Ann Carole (Humenik) Vrabel and the husband of Sally (Evans) Kail.
Daniel was a graduate of Clairton High School, received his Bachelor's Degree from Duquesne University, and a Master's Degree in Education from Tennessee State. He was a Radiologic Engineer for Bettis Atomic Power Laboratory. He also worked as a Russian translator and was an accomplished guitarist. Once retired, he and Sally moved to Tennessee where spent his free time playing tennis for a league, and was known for having a high amateur rating. Daniel also enjoyed golfing and spending time with friends, family and beloved dog Rosie.
Daniel is survived by his siblings, Victor, Vivian, Carole, Therese, Albert, Valerie, Paul,Celeste, Clare; and many nieces, nephews, including Derek Vrabel, a nephew with whom Daniel was very close.
In addition to his parents, Daniel was also preceded in death by his brother, Tim Vrabel.

Elizabeth Anna Segedi, age 102 of Clairton and formerly of Washington, DC, passed away at home on Wednesday, November 10, 2021.   Born August 5, 1919 in McKeesport, she was a daughter of the late Michael J. and Elizabeth (Miney) Segedi.  A 1937 graduate of Clairton High School, Elizabeth worked as a civil service employee within the Federal Government in Washington, DC from 1941 to 1978.  She began with one year for the IRS Income Tax Division, followed by 36 years with the US Coast Guard as a Visual Information Specialist for the Public Information Division.  She was a member of Triumph of the Holy Cross Parish and the former St. Paulinus Church in Clairton and the Catholic Daughters of America Court 212 of the District of Columbia.  She is survived by many nieces and nephews and, besides her parents, was preceded in death by her siblings Mary Segedi, John Szegedy, and Michael Segedi.

Audrey A. Yonek, 62, of Belle Vernon, died Nov. 10, 2021.  She is the daughter of the late Elmer T. Yonek and Doris (Tamock) Harmon.  She is survived by her daughter Theresa Brown; grandsons Cole and Seth Brown; siblings Ronald (Debbie) Yonek, Thomas Yonek, Christine Harmon, Eddie (Leslie) Yonek, Shelly Yonek and Ricki Yonek and step mother Joan Yonek; also many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her brother Elmer Michael Yonek.  Audrey was a wonderful and loving mother, sister and friend.  She would do anything for you.  She had a beautiful personality , loved talking hunting with her brothers and loved cooking with the ladies.  Friends received Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport on Tues. from 6 to 7, at which time a funeral service will be held.
