Cathleen E. Roberts, 79, of McKeesport, passed away Thursday, July 20, 2023. She was born in Spartanburg, SC on January 11, 1944 and was the daughter of the late Keith and Irene (Gierard) Roberts, and the late Robert Marazzi. She was a registered nurse for many years, a profession that continued to define her through later career changes. She traveled all over the world and had many stories to tell about her adventures. She loved to read and was extremely crafty - cross stitch, needlework, sewing and crocheting were favorite hobbies. In particular, she cherished memories of making Halloween costumes for her children and grandchildren.

George Calvin Weimer, 89, of Allison Park, Pennsylvania, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2023. He was born June 17, 1934, in Friedens, PA and was the son of the late George Dewey and Ruth Elmira (Hay) Weimer. George was a graduate of Penn State University with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. He served in the Coast Guard before going to work for numerous companies, most notably as a Senior Project Engineer for Rust International Corporation in Pittsburgh.  He was a very faithful member of the First Lutheran Church, 615 Grant Street in downtown Pittsburgh, where he served as Head Usher for many years, and as a member of the Property Committee and Congregational Council, and where he met his wife of 62 years, Beatrice. He was an excellent gardener and enjoyed his garden and the birds that frequent the yard at his home in Hampton Township.  He was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Penguins and Pirates.  A meticulous worker and thinker, he had a keen interest in history and political events, loved great music, and collected regional matchbooks, American coins, and postage stamps from all around the world. His kindness and humor will be greatly missed by friends, neighbors, and beloved extended family.

Dean Howard Hofmeister, 78, of Poteet, TX., passed away Monday, July 17, 2023. He was born in Gilmer, TX on April 25, 1945 and was the son of the late Henry Hofmeister, and the late Grace May (Murray) Shaw. Dean was a US Navy Veteran, and was a big-rig truck driver for 30+ years, as well as a driving trainer for 6 years. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, hunting, fishing, and going to the gun range for shooting practice.

Mary Ann Prontiker, 85, of Elizabeth, passed away Saturday, July 15, 2023. She was born in McKeesport on February 1, 1938 and was daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Kish) Prontiker. Mary Ann was a McKeesport High School graduate, US Air Force Veteran and stayed within the Reserves for a few years after. She worked many years with Westinghouse as a Secretary before retirement and was a long time member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church in McKeesport. In her younger years, she loved traveling, especially to her favorite spot, Aruba! In her later years, she enjoyed her nights out playing bingo, and loved to go shopping.

Jeffrey Joseph "Jeff" Holub, 62, of McKeesport, passed away Monday, July 10, 2023. He was  born May 7, 1961 in McKeesport an was the son of the late John J. and Rita Mae (Gallagher) Holub.  Jeff owned and operated JJH Landscaping since 1979, and did many landscaping jobs over the years.  He is survived by his brother, Jordan D. Holub of McKeesport, an aunt, an uncle and cousins.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, John Bradley "JB" Holub, who passed away June 21, 2016. There was no visitation. Dale W. McDonnell, 79, of Dravosburg, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at home. 

He was born October 22, 1943 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Kenneth McDonnell Sr. and Rita Kelley (The late Thomas Hoak) McDonnell-Hoak.  He was a US Army Veteran.

In 1990, Dale obtained his Associates Degree in Social Work of Special Needs Youth and Adults from CCAC. Dale worked as a social worker for many years, working for both Auberle Boystown and Chartiers Center for Behavioral Health. He had also attended The Pittsburgh Beauty Academy and enjoyed cutting hair.  He was a doting husband who loved to serve his Queen.

Dorothy S. Gaudy, 86, of North Huntingdon, formerly of Elizabeth Township, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2023. She was born October 20, 1936 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late George V. and Mary (Midlo) Spisak. She was a member of Mary, Mother of God Parish - St. Patrick Church in Christy Park, and was a life member of the McKeesport Hospital School of Nursing Alumni. Dorothy was a Private Duty Nurse and later retired as an Operating Room Nurse at McKeesport Hospital. With over 40 years of service, many of her colleagues became life long friends. She was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates fan and enjoyed needlepoint, ceramics and baking.

Raymond "Ray" Reitz, 66, of Elizabeth Township, passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2023. He was born in McKeesport on February 9, 1957 and was the son to the late Larry and Irene (Flemming) Reitz. Ray was the proprietor of Ray's Painting. He enjoyed golfing, and was always such a hard worker. He is survived by his son, Shane (Shelby Ruschak) Reitz of Elizabeth Township, his loving sisters, his companion, Sherry Bonacci, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Larry Reitz, and his sister, Karen Penn. Eleanor "Tally" Plummer

Eleanor "Tally" Plummer, 92, of Greenock, passed away Friday, July 7, 2023. She was born in McKeesport on July 11, 1930 and was the daughter of the late Cheaser and Elizabeth (Hayes) Talavinia. She was also the wife to the late Jack K. Plummer, who passed away October 14, 1995. Tally was a long time member of Peace Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was a past member of the Elizabeth Township Historical Society, and enjoyed puzzle books, jig-saw puzzles, and crocheting. Through the years, Tally crocheted over 400 lap quilts for patients in nursing homes and hospitals in the surrounding areas. She kept track of every quilt she ever made; even down to the colors and stitch pattern she used.

Thomas Victor "Chopper" Snyir, 82, of White Oak passed away Wednesday, July 5, 2023. He was born in Duquesne on October 27, 1940 and was the son to the late William and Elizabeth (Demeter) Snyir. Tom graduated Duquesne University with a Bachelor's in Architecture and worked as a production manager for US Steel for many years. He was also a US Army Veteran, which led him into becoming intrigued with WWII History. Chopper was a member of American Legion #701 in White Oak, as well as a member of 'Pagans Motorcycle Club,' and the 'Chosen Few.'Eventually, he became the owner of Tom's Auto Body Shop in McKeesport, and the President of Street Life Car Club, where Tom was able to put his passion to work for restoring old cars; which a few made into 'Hot Rod' magazine and won 'Peoples Choice Awards' for their complete customizations he created. He enjoyed riding his motorcycles, watching horror movies, going hunting, and he loved dancing.

Bruce M. Del Signore, 70, of Elizabeth Township, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, June 30, 2023. He was born  October 23, 1952 in Pittsburgh and was the son of the late Ernest Dante and Martha Louise (Kenan) Del Signore. Bruce was a 1971 graduate of Elizabeth Forward High School. He worked 31 years at US Steel Clairton Works as a Heavy Equipment Operator before retiring. Bruce was an active member of the Christian Center Church, where he enjoyed greeting people before every service. For over 20 years, he participated in an annual missionary trip to Philippi, WV for various service projects. In his younger years, he made many road trips in his Datsun 240Z. He loved the outdoors; cutting & stacking fire wood so that he could enjoy warm fires through the cold winters nights. Anywhere he went, anybody he talked to, he made instant friends. His off the wall jokes that came out of nowhere made his friends and family laugh constantly. He loved his ice cream and bakery shops and he would use those shops as landmarks in his directions if you ever asked how to get somewhere.

Kemp Michael Cook, age 59, of North Huntingdon, PA passed away Friday, June 30, 2023. He was born November 11, 1963, and was the son of the late James and Rita (Pozzuto) Cook. Kemp worked as a Machinist at CPI Industries for 25 years where he was actively involved as the Vice President of the Local 5852 Steelworkers Union until his retirement in 2021. He loved nothing more than taking rides on his Harley, spending time with family, and watching Steelers football. Kemp will always be remembered by many as a loving man that would help anyone in need. He is survived by his wife, Dana (Barber) Cook; children, Nakita (Brian) Caine, Antwan and Shawntrale Crosby; grandchildren, Hudson Caine and Alana Crosby; brother, Scott (Haley Mosqueda) Cook; nephews and niece Christopher, Joshua, Evan, and Ava Cook; aunts and uncles, Betty (Daniel) Mains, Donald (Barbara) Pozzuto, Annetta and Lynne Pozzuto; and a host of cousins.  Friends are welcome Friday, July 7, 2023 from 3-5 pm. at the Gilbert Funeral Home and Crematory, Inc., 6028 Smithfield Street, Boston, Elizabeth Township.(412) 751-5000 Drew J. Joseph Como, 90, of Irwin, formerly of Greenock, passed away Wednesday, June 27, 2023. He was born December 30, 1932 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Anthony and Lena (DiMarino) Como. He was the husband of the late Florence Marie "Flossie" (Abercrombie) Como who passed away July 19, 2008. Joseph was retired from the US Postal Service and was a US Marine Veteran serving in the Korean War. For his service he received the US Service Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, the Korean Service Medal with 2 Stars, and the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member of the Elizabeth Township Ex-Serviceman's Club, the Buena Vista Fire Co. and the Marine Veterans.
