William Peter "Bill" Kostyzak, Sr., 86, of Glassport, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2023. He was born August 12, 1936 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Peter and Ruth (Gross) Kostyzak. Bill retired from Copperweld after many years of service. Bill enjoyed playing golf, his favorite courses were Butler's and Seven Springs. He was a jack of all trades and could fix anything around the house, including the plumbing and electrical. He was known for his singing and his skill in leather working. He had a great sense of humor and will be very missed. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Enise M. (Donofrio) Kostyzak; son, Michael R. Kostyzak of Glassport; sister, Ruth Ann Kostyzak of McMurray; grandchildren, Billy, Brad, Brianna, Richie and Dania Kostyzak; great-grandchildren, Richie, Ava and Anya, as well as nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, Richard Kostyzak and William Kostyzak, Jr and his brother, Richard Kostyzak. There is no visitation or services planned. Harry Jay Naulder, 65, of Elizabeth, passed away Sunday, March 5, 2023. He was born in McKeesport on September 4, 1957 and was the son of the late Harry Jay Naulder, Jr. and the late Gail (Morrison) Naulder. He was the husband to the late Lois J. Naulder before her passing in December of 2015. Jay was a graduate of South Allegheny High School. He worked many years as a Truck Driver for Amrox, transporting major chemicals around the area. Hard-working, generous, and so very giving, Jay was a huge family man, and all around a good time. He was especially proud of his son, John. He loved spending time with his grandkids, enjoyed watching sports, going hunting & fishing, but his all time favorite was taking out his Harley or Corvette for joy rides.

Duane D. Garber, Sr., 73, of Elizabeth Township, formerly of Clairton, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2023. He was born July 20, 1949 in McKeesport, and was son to the late Leo and Eva (Synko) Garber. As a Veteran, Duane served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War and was awarded medals and other service honors. He worked many years for Clairton Works - US Steel in the Bug Plant.

Kevin Donald Kvarta, 31, of Irwin, passed away Saturday, March 4, 2023. He was born April 15, 1991 in Pittsburgh and is the son to Donald Keith Kvarta and Mary Judith (Abromitis) Douglass. Kevin was a caring soul. He always wanted to lend a helping hand, often putting others before himself. He attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh for Creative Writing, and was very artistic. He created many art pieces, and shared many poems with his family and friends, and even learned a little Japanese in his studies. Kevin also loved gaming; creating storylines, characters, and even the game maps, his artistic ability made all of his thoughts come to life. He worked at Forbes Hospital in the C.S.P. and then moved onto Giant Eagle where he worked in the Deli.

Wilma "Mimi" Schola, 89 of Jefferson Hills, formerly of Elizabeth Township, passed away Monday, February 27, 2023. She was born July 11, 1933 in McKeesport and was daughter to the late Michael and Wilma (Milak) Simon; and the wife to the late John E. Schola before his passing in May 2012. Mimi was a graduate of McKeesport High School and a long time employee of Murphy's Warehouse, as well as a member of the Hungarian Club, and the former St. Stephen's Catholic Church in McKeesport and the Christian Mother's there.

Gwendolyn Gilbert Bitzer DeSarno, 95, of North Huntingdon, passed away peacefully at home with her daughter by her side on Wednesday, February 22, 2023. She was born April 16, 1927, in Philadelphia and was the daughter of the late Dwight McElhinney and the late Gwendolyn (Hunsberger) McElhinney. She was the wife of the late Joseph A. DeSarno who passed away June 15, 1989. Gwendolyn was a member of Linway United Presbyterian Church, North Versailles, and the Italian Sons and Daughters of America. She loved gardening, cooking, and helping others. Gwendolyn was a private caregiver until the age of 87.

She was born November 5, 1944 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late George Edward Bocan, Sr. and Helen Regina (Saniga) Bocan. She was the wife of the late Gerald Raymond Gault, who passed away May 29, 2011. Regina enjoyed her cats and was a people person who loved to talk and laugh. George Vuckovich, 88, of Elizabeth Township, passed away Monday, February 20, 2023. He was born April 29, 1934 in Clairton and was the son of the late Gajo and Mary (Dobrich) Vuckovich. He was the husband of the late Marcella "Marcy" (Lowicki) Vuckovich, who passed away March 12, 2019. George was a member of Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Cathedral in Pleasant Hills, a member of the former St. Mary Serbian Orthodox Church in Clairton and also, attended St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church in McKeesport. He worked for over 40 years in the tool and dye department of Fisher Body for General Motors. He was an avid reader, enjoyed a good glass of red wine and absolutely loved playing Solitaire on the computer. He also loved to watch movies and shows on the hallmark channel. He will be greatly missed.

Adrasto "Poor George" Casoni, Sr., 68, of Sutersville, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2023 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 6, 1954 in West Newton and was the son of Janet (Nuttall) Vargo of North Charleroi, Carol Casoni of Sutersville and the late Adrasto "June Bug" Casoni, Jr. George was the Proprietor of George's Auto Service and Partner of Casoni Bowling Lanes in Sutersville. He was a member of the WMBU, Sutersville Moose, Sutersville Fire Co and the Buena Vista Fire Hall. George was a former member of the West Newton Sportsmen's Club and the Sutersville Council. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing and boating. He had a great sense of humor and was well known for his BBQ and Beef Sticks. His house and garage were a local hang out where food and drink were always available.

John "Fever" Knezovich, 74, of McKeesport, passed away Wednesday, February 15, 2023. He was born June 6, 1948 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Frank and Anna (Kuzma) Knezovich. John was a member of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church in McKeesport. He worked various jobs prior to his retirement including, being a former financial controller for McKeesport Hospital, Jefferson Hospital and the City of McKeesport, as well as being a Chief Operating Officer for Better's Demolition and for the former Universal Service Technologies, Inc. John loved his family, especially his grandchildren and enjoyed attending their sporting events. He was known to have a huge network of friends and family and was known as "Fever" for his Karaoke skills. He also enjoyed traveling with his wife.

John Charles Coup, 71, of Elizabeth Township, passed away Friday, February 17, 2023 surrounded by family. He was born August 6, 1951, in McKeesport and was the son of the late John Coup and the late Ethel (Sivak) Coup Cush. Now a proud Veteran, John served in the Air Force as an Aircraft Loadmaster and Cargo Foreman, and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. He had achieved an Associate's Degree at Triangle Tech & used it to work for US Steel; at Mon Valley Works and Irvin works, he worked and retired as a steelworker. He was a member of USS Local 2227 and a member of the White Oak Legion for 45 years.

Maureen F. Hresko, 66, of Port Vue, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2023. She was born November 23, 1956 in Philadelphia, PA and was daughter of the late Howard and Lillian (Downey) Strauman. She graduated from west Catholic High School in Philly before moving to this side of Pennsylvania. Working as a Physical Therapy Aide and eventually as an Administrative Assistant for the therapy team, Maureen retired from those many years at Jefferson Hospital. She was raised Catholic and has been a member of Sts. Joachim & Anne Parish - St. Mark's for a long time. She enjoyed gardening, and watching and feeding the birds, but most importantly, spending time with her family and attending her grandkids sporting events as their #1 fan.

Jack S. Geary of White Oak, Pennsylvania passed away peacefully on February 16, 2023. He was born in McKeesport, Pennsylvania on July 2, 1931, to the late Stephen and Elizabeth (Katrincsak) Geary. Jack was a 1949 graduate from McKeesport High School, served in the United States Air Force until 1954, retired from United States Steel in 1987, and was a member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Catholic Church. Beloved husband of Joann for 65 years, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, friend, and role model. His was a life well lived, full of love for his wife and family. The family has fond memories of him playing guitar, singing to his creative lyrics, dancing, drawing, and playing cards. He shared his artistic, musical, and athletic gifts with his children. Early in life he pitched softball for the United States Air Force. A talented craftsman, he spent many hours helping his children with home remodeling. He cared for family alongside his wife Joann throughout his life. They were inseparable until her death in 2021.

Bonnie Joanne Pope, 67, of Port Vue, passed away Thursday, February 16, 2023 at home. She was born June 6, 1955 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Gordon Eynon and Bernice Lucille "Lu" (Edwards) Koon. She was a member of Greenock United Methodist Church. As an adult, she obtained her Associates Degree from CCAC and later her Bachelors Degree at CalU. Bonnie worked as a bookkeeper, secretary and accountant for Gardner-Pope Architecture. She was involved with The Elizabeth Township Community Chorus and would also sing at her church and for special occasions. Bonnie was a kind person and was a lifelong Sunday school teacher, avid reader, crafter and seamstress. Most importantly, Bonnie was a great wife, mother and Mimi to her grandchildren. She will be greatly missed.
