Kenneth Maynard Wriston, 86, of Elizabeth Township, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2025. He was born in Fayetteville, WV on February 1, 1938 to the late Glenna Wriston. Also, the husband of the late Geraldine (Atkins) Wriston, they were married almost 60 years before her passing in 2018. An Army Veteran, Ken served from 1956-1958, during peace time. He was awarded the Sharpshooter Expert Rifle Medal. One memory that he has shared was that he served alongside Elvis Presley, still carrying a small keepsake to share. After he was discharged, he worked many jobs through the years, but mainly as a truck driver. Before retiring, he worked for the McKeesport School District as a warehouse truck driver, delivering supplies to the schools. He had two passions in life - driving, and old school country music. He was born in West Virgina, but family had moved down the coast to Florida and eventually back up here to Pennsylvania where him & his wife followed. He is survived by his daughters, Geraldine "Geri" Haines of Erie, and Barbara "Barb" Dittman of Greenock; grandsons, Henry Dittman, Jr. of North Huntingdon, and Kevin Haines of Erie; a sister, Donna Treet of DeFuniak Springs, FL.; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his mom and wife, Ken is preceded in death by his siblings, Frank, John Adam, Fred, Arlene, and Francis. Patsy Ruth (Smith) McGinn, 94, originally from McKeesport, passed away on Sunday, January 19, 2025 after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was born on Janury 14, 1931 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late John and Hazel (Rollason) Smith. She was the wife of the late James W. McGinn. She was a long time resident of Liberty Borough where she raised her family. Patsy had worked as a nursing assistant in the operating room of McKeesport Hospital, but her most important career was as a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. In her free time, Patsy enjoyed planting flowers, bowling and spending time with her many friends when she was a member of the Elizabeth Township Seniors. She also loved watching the Pirates and Steelers.

Janice J. Beatty, 82, of Elizabeth Township, passed away Wednesday, January 15, 2025. She was born April 4, 1942 in Elizabeth and was the daughter of the late Harold and Virginia (Wolfe) Abercrombie. Janice was a member of The Round Hill Presbyterian Church and The Eastern Star NO. 316. She loved genealogy and enjoyed studying and finding ancestry for her family and also members of The Daughters of The American Revolution. She was a lover of horses, she had owned several through her life and they held a special place in her heart. She will be greatly missed.

Emerson "Moose" Dainty, 65, of Elizabeth Township, passed away at home on Monday, January 13, 2025. He was born February 21, 1959 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Richard G. Dainty, Sr., and the late Sandra Lee (Betz) Dainty. Moose was a 1978 graduate of McKeesport High School and worked for Peter J. Caruso for many years as a truck driver. He was dependable, fun, generous and kind to everyone he knew. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. Lovingly known as "Pops" to his grandchildren, he is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Kathleen D. (Leyland) Dainty, sons, William (Sara) Wesley, Justin (Whitney) Wesley, and Timothy (Amanda) Dainty, grandchildren, Blaine, Eleanor, Leland, and Emersyn Rose, sisters, Beverly Ritchey and Dalynn Dainty, brother, Richard G. (Lois) Dainty, Jr., nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sister, Lynda Dainty and brother-in-law, George Ritchey. There is no visitation. A celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date at the Coulter Fire Hall. Patricia Anne "Pat" Smith, 84, of Greenock, went home to be with her Savior on Sunday, January 12, 2025. She was born April 10, 1940 in Glassport and was the daughter of Charles C. and Blanche S. (Sikorski) Barchanowicz. She was the devoted wife of 54 years to the late Donald William Smith, who passed away November 30, 2013. Pat was a woman of great faith and loved the Lord and was a member of Park Baptist Church in Versailles. She was an avid gardener of flowers, whose green thumb has kept a Christmas Cactus around since 1968. She was a lover of animals, especially cats. She was a homebody, who loved her home and all the visiting animals and the garden she grew. Pat was dedicated to her family, who were her whole life. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, who wanted to always make sure her family knew how much she loved them. She will be greatly missed.

It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of our uncle, brother-in-law, and friend Paul R. Herbert who passed quietly at the age of 91 at his home in Carmel Indiana. He was the husband of the late Eleanor L. Whiteman Herbert. They were married for 64 years and were devoted Christians. He was born in Frank, Pennsylvania on August 2, 1933, to Mary and Clyde Herbert Sr. He was preceded in death by sisters, Mary Margaret Weston, (Col. Logan), Betty Jo Handley, (Donald), Reta Thorne, (Alfred), and brothers Clyde (Si) Herbert Jr., (Irene), and Robert (Bob) Herbert, (Dorothy). Alvin P. Decker, 93 of McKeesport, after an 18-month battle with glioblastoma, it is with a broken heart to announce his passing on January 10, 2025. He was born on July 11, 1931, in Summerhill Township to Daniel and Leola (Flick) Decker. He was the husband of the late Betty Decker and grandfather to the late Joshua Decker. He is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Alberta Decker and Paul Paterra, with whom he resided; and grandfather of Stacy Decker of North Huntingdon.
Raised in McKeesport, he graduated from McKeesport High School in 1949 as valedictorian. Met his wife while working at McKeesport Baking Company and married in 1950. He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army seeing conflict at Heartbreak Ridge and Christmas Tree Hill during the Korean War. Upon returning home, he spent his career as the specifications engineer for U.S. Steel, National Tube. After retirement he spent the next 23 years as a volunteer in the cafeteria of St. Joseph Regional School in Port Vue preparing and serving lunch to the students and staff.

Nicholas “Nick” Mario Denardo, 75, of Port Vue, passed away at home on Saturday, January 11, 2025. He was born on August 14, 1949 in McKeesport and was the son of the late Dominic and Josephine (DiGiannantonio) Denardo. Nick retired from US Steel Clairton Works after over 30 years. He was a member of Park Baptist Church in Versailles Boro, where he also was on the Security Team and a member of the Men’s Prayer Group. He was also a Treasurer of Elizabeth Township Sportsman’s Association, Past President of Clairton Works Federal Credit Union and of USS Local 1557 Union, he was also a member of the Polish Club, Archer Hill Bowling League and Pastrik’s Bowling and Golf Leagues and the Mon Yough Church Dartball League.

Margaret Marie Eddy, 95, of Elizabeth Township, passed away Monday, January 6, 2025. She was born in Duquesne on October 4, 1929 to the late John and Mary (Serdy) Regosh. She was also the wife to the late Thomas Eddy before his passing in May 2020. Margaret worked as a floral designer for companies in the surrounding areas - Lawrence the Florist & Gift Shop & lastly, Johnston the Florist in White Oak and McKeesport. Raised catholic, Margaret became a Eucharistic Minister for St. Michael's Church in Elizabeth for many years and was a very active member with the church outside of the Ministry.

Roland Keith "Rocky" Childers, 60, of Blythedale, passed away Wednesday, January 1, 2025. He was born April 13, 1964 in Mulvane, KS., and was the son of the late Lee Roy and Edith (Thompson) Childers, Jr. Rocky was a Bartender at WMBU in Blythedale for over 30 years. He is survived by his brothers, Christopher (Sue) Childers of Sutersville and Glenn (George Smith) Childers of Elizabeth Township, special niece, Heather (Todd) Slonecker of Blythedale and many nieces and nephews. Terrance O'Patrick "Terry" Coulter, Sr., 68, of Elizabeth Township, passed away Saturday, January 4, 2025. He was born in McKeesport on May 14, 1956 as the son to the late William and Eleanor (Fenton) Coulter. In 1973, Terry enlisted as a Marine and served for 3 years and obtaining many medals - National Defense Service Medal, Navy Achievement and Meritorious Mast; which is a medal awarded to those whose performance goes beyond the normal duty requirements. He was always so proud to be a Marine. After being honorably discharged in 1976, the rest of his career was devoted to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Banks, where he worked as a general warehouse manager. He also spent his free time building just about anything he could with K'nex. He has a basement full of his creations and a plethora of extras stored away for future projects. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

She was a member of Central Highlands Community United Methodist Church and was a former member of the Boston United Methodist Church for 55 years. Marlene was a Personnel Manager for the former Gimbels in South Hills Village and the former Eastland Mall and was previously a Switchboard Operator for the former Bell Telephone Company. She always had her hair styled and was always well dressed. She was an avid bowler and loved going to her home in Deep Creek, MD. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother and Great-grandmother.
