June Johnston Hinkle, 89, of North Huntingdon, passed away Friday, August 14, 2020 at Kelly's Personal Care Home, Greensburg. She was born in Harrisonburg, VA, a daughter of the late Robert Boyd and Kate (Arborgast) Johnston. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harman "Clyde" Hinkle. June is survived by her children, Richard Hinkle and Wylene Hinkle, three grandchildren and one great grandchild. June was a full-time Mom, an accomplished braille transcriber, a talented quilter, and an avid baker. Many will miss her ginger cookies. She loved animals and adopted several stray cats. Many have been inspired by her care-giving. June spent the first two decades of her life in Riverton and Circleville. She graduated from Circleville High School in 1947. It was in her high school English class that she discovered a love of books and became a prolific reader, especially mysteries. After moving from West Virginia, she and her husband, Clyde, spent so many weekends in West Virginia that I knew the way to Grandma's house better than the way to school. She will be buried in the North Fork Cemetery next to her husband. Services are private. Arrangements were made by the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, PA. www.shirleyfuneralhome.com
