He was born March 19, 1959 in New Eagle and was the son of Anita Schmidt Cavanaugh of Elizabeth Township and the late Harry Cavanaugh. He worked for Simonetta's Collision and Car Care Center in McKeesport and was a graduate of Elizabeth-Forward Class of 1977. Dan was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in the garden and spending time with his family.

He was born November 21, 1936 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Eugene and Mary Dilla and was also preceded in death by two sisters and a brother.
