Elizabeth “Betty” Hock, age 98, of West Mifflin, passed away on Sunday, January 16, 2022. Born in Duquesne on November 20 1923, she was the daughter of the late John and Maria (Tkacik) Brecko. She worked at U.S. Steel-Duquesne Works for 9 years. She was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish-Holy Trinity Church and was an avid bingo player. She was the wife of the late Regis P. Hock; mother of Audrey (Ken) Glick of Irwin, Richard J. Hock of Level Green and the late Martin R. Hock; grandmother of Michelle (John) Yarbrough Korb, Jason (Stephanie) Yarbrough, Eric (Valerie Lapina) Yarbrough, Patrick Hock and Matthew Hock; great grandmother of Ella Korb, Anna Rose Yarbrough, and Jaxson Hock; sister of the late Florence “Flo” Husfelt, late John “Jim” Brecko and late Joseph (surviving spouse Kathleen) Brecko of Duquesne; nieces and nephews.

Edward J. Stetz, age 82, of Murphy, NC. Formerly of West Mifflin, West Newton, PA and Myrtle Beach, SC, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 12, 2022 after valiantly fighting a 2 ½ year battle with pancreatic cancer. Ed was born on November 2, 1939, the son of the late Anthony F. Stetz and Helen T. (Fecenko) Stetz. He is survived by his wife, Kim (Hand) Stetz, children, David (Ardith) Stetz, Darlene (Elvin) House, and Dale Stetz. Predeceased by infant daughter Kimberly Ann Stetz. Step-father to Ted Peck and Taylor Finch . Grandfather to Justin, Collin, Ashley, Christina, Robert, Katelyn, Hayley, Katherine, Jake, and Anthony Finch, and a great-grandfather. Brother of Ray (Mary Ann) Stetz, Steve (Carol) Stetz, Dorothy Stetz Zangrilli (Daniel), and Tom Stetz. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Ed started his construction career with his dad at Stetz Construction, then moved on with Bailey & Sharpe, Woodlawn Builders, and during the building boom in the early ‘80s in the South, he moved his family to Myrtle Beach, SC to form his business, East Shore Homes, Inc., until his retirement. Ed loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter.
Honoring his wishes, there will be no visitation and funeral services are private, with Townson-Rose Funeral Home, Murphy, NC handling the arrangements. She was a devoted wife, mother, grammy, sister, and daughter. William E. Bost, age 87, of Duquesne, passed away on Thursday, December 23, 2021, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center. James M. “Gibby” Gibbons, age 65, of Ross Twp., formerly of Duquesne, passed away on December 23, 2021. Born in McKeesport on July 18, 1956, he was the son of the late William and Patricia (Cloonan) Gibbons. He was retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania-Department of Welfare, where he determined eligibility. He also worked for Mon-Yough Community Services, where he was a drug and alcohol counselor. He was a former member of Holy Name Church-Duquesne, loved all Pittsburgh sports, classic cars, car shows & cruises, and sports memorabilia. He proudly served his country in the Navy during the Vietnam War. He is the brother of Jo (Jack) Znavor of North Huntingdon, Mary (Jim) Bick of West Newton, Maggie (late “Cookie”) Chiponis of West Mifflin, Colleen (Tom) Washko of North Huntingdon, late Patricia (late William “Bill” Lutz) Gibbons, who died Nov. 7, 2021, and late William Gibbons. Mark O. Bedont Jr., 74, of Williamsburg, VA, formerly of Centreville, VA and West Mifflin, PA, died peacefully in his sleep, at home, on Monday, December 13, 2021. He was born on November 20, 1947 to the late Mark O. Sr. and Beatrice (Ardiana) Bedont. Mark graduated from Indiana University of Pa. He retired as a Program Analyst for the U.S. Department of Labor. He proudly served in the U.S. Army from 1970-1972 as a Radio Operator in Vietnam. He enjoyed fishing with his son and friends every year in Cross Fork, PA, “The Gabby.” He is survived by his best friend and love of his life, Sally, of 37 years; son Alex (Kari) Bedont; Grandchildren, Mark, Melody and Elijah; brothers, Gary and Jeff (Mary) of West Mifflin; Uncle to Melanie (Rob) Vitous, Eric (Lauren) Bedont, Tracey Lape (Mike Warywoda) and Tyler Douglass; Aunt Ada and cousin Joe Genito. Jane was a retired secretary from Meyers, Daragh, Buckler, Bebenek and Eck, was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Parish, Holy Trinity Church, a member of the GFWC Women’s Club of Duquesne, enjoyed dressing up and good meals.
