Frances A. Muse, formerly of West Mifflin, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at Sycamore Estates, Duquesne. She was the wife of the late Richard F. Muse Sr. for 35 years. She is survived by three children; Richard F. (Susan) Muse Jr. of McMurray,  Sheila (Jack) Rozzo of Duquesne, and David (Fiance Terry) Muse of Honolulu, HI, also surviving are six grandchildren; Erin (Brian) Fallon of McMurray, Lauren (Russell) Cready of Bethel Park, Meghan (Joseph) Smith of Florence, SC, Amber Russell of Edgewood, Ashley Russell of Duquesne, and Brooke Muse of California. six great grandchildren; Olivia, Owen, Riley, Harper, Vinnie, and Alexander. Mrs. Muse loved gardening in her backyard.

Julie Elizabeth (Russen) Rocco

Julie Elizabeth (Russen) Rocco passed away peacefully on July 31, 2020, and is now with our Lord and Savior. Mrs. Rocco, 63, was born in McKeesport Hospital on May 24, 1957. She was a lifelong member of the West Mifflin, PA community and also Ss. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Duquesne.

She graduated from West Mifflin North High School in 1975.  She obtained her degree in elementary education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 1979 and taught for 40 years at Saint Rita's, Clairton Central Catholic/Saint Clare of Assisi, and mostly recently Saint Agnes in West Mifflin.

She will forever be remembered as a loving Mother, Wife, Daughter, Sister, Godmother, Aunt, and Friend to all that knew her and will be greatly treasured in everyone's hearts. Julie's life will be always be tied to her being one of the most influential educators to every student to whom she gave the gift of learning.

John B. Polivka

John B. Polivka, 83 of North Huntingdon, passed into the Lord's arms on Friday, July 24, 2020, at UPMC East, Monroeville. He was born on March 4, 1937, in Duquesne and was the son of the late John and Mary (Chonko) Polivka Jr. He married his high school sweetheart, Arlene J. (Takacs) Polivka who he met in the Penny Arcade in Kennywood and they would have celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in August of this year.

He was Byzantine Catholic by faith and belonged to SS. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Duquesne. John was a 11th Grade U.S. History teacher at Norwin High School from 1966 - 1995, he served as Social Studies Department Head, introduced and designed new courses (TODAE) and (PUSH) which he taught until his retirement.

He is remembered by his students for his Teddy Roosevelt lecture, First Day of School RESPECT lecture, the History Baseball Game, 10 quizzes per 6 weeks, day before Christmas Vacation 6 week exam, and the Presidents Page. John's interest ran from travel, tennis, birding, cross country skiing, movies, photography and music (he played the trumpet) and of course, teasing Arlene, "Say goodnight Gracie!"

He also was the treasurer of the Norwin Teacher's Federal Credit Union (1986 - 1999). He loved teaching and took great pride in the fact that he never wanted to be off from that job. He was always ready to go back after a long holiday.

Geraldine D. "Gerry" (Balombiny) Selznick, 86, of Duquesne, Fell asleep in the Lord, peacefully, on Friday June 26, 2020 in Jefferson Regional Medical Center, Jefferson Hills. Born in Duquesne, June 18, 1934, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Hayduk) Balombiny. Beloved wife of the late Edgar A. Selznick, she is survived by a daughter, Kathleen McCormick, a son, David Selznick, a brother, Francis Balombiny, one granddaughter, Jacqueline Fraas, a great grandchild, Carson Fraas, a nephew, Edward Balombiny, and a great niece, Heather Myer. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Selznick was also preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond and Edward Balombiny, a sister, Irene Bartos, and a nephew, Jan Balombiny.

Helen F. (Fraikor) Bytzura, 95, of West Mifflin and formerly of Duquesne, died peacefully on Friday, June 12, 2020 at the Residence at Whitehall. Mrs. Bytzura was born in Duquesne, November 1, 1924, the daughter of the late John and Anna (Petrosky) Fraikor. Mrs. Bytzura was a member of Ss. Peter and Paul Byzantine Catholic Church, Duquesne, a loving homemaker, and a former teletype operator at the former Duquesne works, U.S. Steel Corporation. Beloved wife of the late George A. Bytzura, she is survived by two loving children, Patricia (Arthur) Gennari and Raymond (Carol) Bytzura; four grandchildren, Jeffery (Aubrey) Gennari, Bryan Gennari, Amanda Bytzura, and Ryan Bytzura; two great grandchildren, Benjamin Gennari and Rosalie Gennari; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was also preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.

Krystian Andrew McDonnell, 23, of Duquesne died tragically in a fire at his home on Friday, May 29, 2020.

Mr. McDonnell was born February 24, 1997, in Pittsburgh. The son of Terrence McDonnell and Barbara Vamos McDonnell. Mr. McDonnell was an employee in the custodial department of Duquesne School District.

He is survived by his beloved mother, Barbara and her fiance, Dedris Davis, his father, Terrence and his wife Lasaun, a sister, Cassandra McDonnell, Paternal Grandparents, Dale and Anntionette Miller McDonnell, Aunt, Shelly (Scott) Witkowski, Godparents, Roxanne Clark and Thomas Ambrose, a niece Arya Bisgoni, and cousins, Cameron and Conner Witkowski.

Rozzo Sr., she is survived by two sons, Frank J Rozzo Jr. of Brookline and John "Jack" Rozzo and his wife Sheila of Duquesne, five grandchildren, John, Charlie, Gregory, Amber and Ashley and six great grandchildren, Lilyanna, Sydney, Anthony, Isabella, Adrianna, and Darrion. Mrs. Rozzo was also preceded in death by a brother, Peter Spynda and two sisters, Nancy Noe and Patricia Ledwich.
