Jean Marie Rothbauer, 81, of Glassport (formerly of West Mifflin and Kennerdell PA) died Sunday, December 25, 2022. She was the daughter of the late Ralph and Dorothy (Breehl) Weber of Canton OH. She is survived by her daughter Jeni (Rick) Szmyd; sons John (Sara) Bishel, Joe (Sue) Rothbauer, and Jim (Janine) Rothbauer; grandchildren Katie (Matt) Bernardi, James (Jodi) Szmyd, Megan (Sam) Shaffer, Rachel (Chris) Houston, Daniel Bishel, Logan (Ashley) Rothbauer, Christian Rothbauer, Carsten Rothbauer and Nathen Rothbauer; great-grandchildren Emma and Sophie Bernardi and Hunter Szmyd; and many nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind several dear friends, some of whom she had still kept in touch with since her youth in Canton. She was preceded in death by her siblings Robert Weber, Harold Weber, Dorothy Ebert, and Marjorie Noel. Jean was the beloved wife of John G. Bishel until his death in 1968, and then of Joseph Rothbauer until his death in 2002. Her children will fondly remember her wonderful cooking and baking, and her absolute devotion to keeping a beautiful, warm, welcoming home. Jean was fiercely proud of her children and grandchildren and of being a mom and grandma. She loved to entertain - her outdoor patio and Christmas parties in West Mifflin and her Friday night homemade pizza parties ‘up at the cabin’ were epic. Jean received her bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management from Geneva College in 1993, and held several jobs after raising her family which always involved helping people - a cause dear to her heart. A lifelong learner, Jean continued her education through many online health summits on wellness and nutrition. She loved reading and collecting books, was an avid gardener and enjoyed growing flowers of all kinds. In her later years, Jean adored living at her cabin on the river in Kennerdell where she could frequently be found feeding the birds, chipmunks, stray cats and other ‘critters’ that she loved watching and talking to. In 2022, due to a decline in health, she moved to Glassport to be near her daughter. A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Wojciechowski Funeral Home.
