Thomas D. Komondor

By Wojciechowski Funeral Home | Posted in: Wojciechowski Funeral Home

Thomas Denning "Scoon" "Denny"  Komondor, a proud U.S. Air Force Veteran and dedicated community member, passed away on November 27, 2025.  Born on October 27, 1956 his life was marked by service, loyalty, and a genuine kindness that will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.  He rightfully earned the nickname "Cat", not only from his distinct "psst psst psst" laugh, but for his love of all cats - both his indoor pets and the stray community he cared for.  He graduated from South Allegheny High School in 1974 and was a life long resident of Glassport.  After his honorable Air Force service, he built a meaningful career with DaVita Dialysis, retiring in 2020 to pursue his love of fishing. He was happiest with a rod in one hand and a "cold one" in the other.  In the 70's and 80's he was a youth baseball coach for the Glassport Orioles. He played for the Showboat Lounge Dart League and Glassport and Steel Valley Men's Softball Leagues.  Scoon was a Life Member of Citizens Hose Co. #1, serving Glassport for over 45 years. He held trustee, lieutenant, and captain positions.  He was predeceased by his parents, Andrew “AK” Komondor and Louise “Weezie” Sigler Komondor.  He is survived by five siblings: Andrew (Pam) Komondor of Great Falls, MT; Mike (Barb) Komondor of North Huntington; Annette (Harry) Case of Glassport; Rob (Kelli) Komondor of Port Vue; and Beth (Chris) Hritz of West Newton.  Uncle Scoon is also survived by his twelve nieces and nephews: Andrew (Sarah) Komondor of Chico, California; Rick (Charlene) Komondor of Great Falls, Montana; Stacy (Zach) Adams of Colorado Springs, Colorado; Brenda (Curt) Reid of South Park; Emily (Nicole) Rybar of Columbia, South Carolina; Brandon Swisher of West Newton; Elana (Jeremy Pettis) Case of Latrobe; godson Cameron Komondor of Liberty Borough; Barbara (Ryan Kent) Case of North Versailles; Bradley (Rebecca) Case of Elizabeth; Kayla (Cody Carr) Komondor of Philadelphia; and Claudia (Josh) Ohrman of Murrysville. He was also the godfather of Audra Lewis of Brookline.  He also had 19 great nieces and great nephews. Many would say that being an uncle and great uncle was the role he cherished most.  He is also survived by aunts Peggy Sigler Muron and Theresa Pasinski Komondor, and many cousins.  He shared a lifelong bond with dear friends who were family - David “Iggy” and Gina Lewis, and Scott “Po” and Stacey Poston. He will be deeply missed by his family, his friends, and everyone who spent time with him at Club 22.  Friends will be received at the Wojciechowski Funeral Home, Glassport on Tues. from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8.  A funeral blessing will be held Wed. 10:00 am in the funeral home.  Interment following at Calvary Cemetery, Port Vue.
