Joyce A. Hicks Gergley, 78 of Glassport, formerly of West Elizabeth, passed away on Saturday May 18th, 2024 at her home surrounded by her family. She was born in West Elizabeth on July 10th, 1945 to the late Merle and Virginia Ryan Hicks. She was the loving wife of 61 years to Michael Gergley. In addition to her beloved husband, Joyce is further survived by her children Corinda (Brian) Smith of Liberty Boro, Michael A. (Traci) Gergley of Versailles Boro, Ronald (Lori) Gergley of Glassport, grandchildren Michael A. Gergley, Blaine (Avonlea) Gergley, Samantha Gergley, Sara Gergley, Chase Gergley, Brianna (Michael) Sokolowski, Brandon Smith, and great grandchild Jacob Gergley, as well as nieces and nephews. Joyce was preceded in death by her brothers Harold States, Arthur Hicks, daughter in law Melissa Megela Gergley. Joyce was very artistic, enjoyed gambling and traveling, bowling and decorating her house, but her favorite way to spend time was with her family and loved ones. Carol Ann Howard Mitchell, 75, of Pittsburgh, passed away on Thursday, May 16th, 2024 at Southwestern Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Pittsburgh. She was born in Pittsburgh on September 28, 1948, to the late George E. and Elizabeth J. Kelly Howard. She is survived by son Michael (Jodi) Mitchell, of Jefferson Hills, and grandson Michael Mitchell, Jr., of Jefferson Hills. Carol was preceded in death by brother George W. “Butchie” Howard and beloved dog Shadow. She enjoyed reading, knitting, and needlepoint, as well as cheering on the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. Buddy Wayne Spradlin, 71 of Glassport, formerly of Ohio, passed away on May 9th, 2024 at Jefferson Hospital. Buddy was born in Sandusky Ohio on June 20th 1952 to the late Bud and Florence Carver Spradlin. Buddy was the loving husband of 41 years to his beloved wife Deborah Sutton Spradlin. In addition to his wife Deborah, he is survived by his son Thomas W. Spradlin of Glassport, daughter Michelle Spradlin of Ruffsdale, brother David (Cindy) Spradlin of Canyon Lake Tx. grandchildren Brianna Schuster of Mt. Pleasant, Joshua Schuster, as well as his beloved pets Bailey, Shelby, Peanut, and Joel. In addition to his parents, Buddy was preceded in death by his sisters Cheryl Baxter, Sue Hagler, and Sandy Baldwin. Buddy worked as a roofer at D.H. Decicco Roofing for 30 years. He served his country and was an Army Veteran. Buddy was a hard worker but his favorite ways to relax was spending time with family and watching T.V. Betty J. "BJ" Evanich, age 91, of Glassport, formerly of McKeesport. Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, May 8, 2024.  Beloved wife of the late John Evanich for 60+ wonderful years. Loving mother of the late Vicki Miller. Dear Grandma of John and Andy Miller; Great Grandma of Victoria Miller. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Pansy Rager, and her siblings, Kenny, Ruth, Bud, and Barbara. She is also survived by her furry companion, Zasha, and many nieces and nephews. Betty and John raised their family in McKeesport. They had a passion for traveling the country and creating memories. She enjoyed teaching arts and crafts classes out of her home to the community. Betty devoted the last 22 years of her life to taking care of her great granddaughter Victoria. She loved teaching Victoria to bake and creating a lifetime of memories with her. Betty will always be remembered as a spirited and bold woman. Doris Mae Pry, 96, of Irwin, formerly residing in Dravosburg for 70 years, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024, at her home.  She was born in Homestead on January 18, 1928 to the late Wendelinous and Alice Clark Mayer. Doris was the loving wife of 57 years to the late William A. Pry, who preceded her in death in 2003. Doris is survived by her daughters Michelle L. Pry, of Dravosburg, and Suzzann K. (Mark) Patrick, of North Huntingdon, son William L. (Eileen) Pry, of Elizabeth, grandchildren; Nicole Sharkey, Angela (Philip) Grand, Jill (Donny) Higinbotham, Alicia (Paul) King, Ed (Stacey) Galiza, Chrissy (Josh) Cofano, Mike Pry, Tiffeni Furman, Chad (Alaina) Patrick, and Scott (Lauren) Patrick, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her infant daughter, Connie, brother, Russell Mayer, and nephew David Mayer. She was a member at the Catholic Holy Angels Parish in Hays and was involved in a card club and coffee club. Doris worked as the head cook at Taylor Allderdice High School, and also at McKeesport Hospital as an escort. She enjoyed playing bingo and crochet. She also loved Norman Rockwell figurines. Shirley A. “Molly B” Smorey 70, of McKeesport, passed on Sunday, April 28th, 2024 at McKeesport Hospital. She was born on August 1st, 1953 to the late Michael Smorey and Louise Yeager of McKeesport. She was the loving wife of 51 years to the late Dennis Ervin. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Dennis Ervin, brother Eugene Smorey, sister Michelle (Angel) Moore, and grandson Matthew Morgan. She is survived by sons Dennis Smorey of Munhall, Shawn (Stefanie) Ervin of Penn Hills, and daughters Shannon (Howard) Morgan of Rostraver, and Danette (Donald) Aber of West Elizabeth. She is additionally survived by 12 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, many nieces,nephews, cousins, and her beloved dog Puddles. She enjoyed finding treasures at flea markets and yard sales. Shirley would always win at bingo and card games as well as spending time with her family and animals. Her favorite show was Days of Our Lives. She worked as a waitress for most of her life. EvaLyn F. Bachisin Cribbs, 90 of Dravosburg, formerly of McKeesport, passed away on Friday April 19th, 2024 at UPMC McKeesport Hospital. She was born in UPMC McKeesport Hospital on March 3rd, 1934 to the late Stephen and Anna Habin Bachisin. EvaLyn was the loving wife of 58 years to George A. Cribbs Sr. She is survived by her children George A. Cribbs Jr. of Dravosburg, Jay S. (Vicki White) Cribbs of Colorado Springs, Nancy A. (Patrick) Hamilton of McKeesport, grandchildren Jill Cribbs, Alexander Hamilton, great grandchildren Olivia Steele, Amber Carr, and great great grandchild Rose. EvaLyn was preceded in death by her siblings Irene, Julia, Dorey, Olga, Elsie, Emil and her grandchild Mindy Lee. She worked as a nurse for UPMC McKeesport Hospital for 22 years, later she was a nurse for National Tube US Steel in McKeesport, and retired from her nursing position at Bettis Atomic Plant. She was a certified CPR instructor. EvaLyn was a member of the Richland Cemetery board of directors. She was involved in the 1st cohort of the Harvard Nurses Study, as well as a McKeesport Hospital Alumni Association member. EvaLyn was a former member of St. Nicholas Byzantine Church, an usher at St. Peter, and current member of St. Thomas the Apostle. She enjoyed walking, swimming, working on puzzles and spending time with family. Carol Phillips Battles 85, of Dravosburg, formerly of Glassport, passed away on Wednesday April 10th, 2024 at Jefferson Hospital. She was born in McKeesport on June 3rd, 1938 to the late Elwyn and Marguerite (Wilds) Phillips. She was the loving wife of 52 years to Edward Battles. In addition to her loving husband, Carol is further survived by her son Alan (Audra) Battles of West Mifflin, grandchildren Elizabeth Battles of West Mifflin, Samuel Battles of West Mifflin, sister Marlyn McCormley of Elizabeth, as well as nieces Kristen Curran and Susan Large, great nieces Amanda Curran, Emily and Ariane Autore, and Carlyn and Samantha Large. She was preceded in death by her parents. Carol was a member of the First Baptist Church in Glassport and Amity Presbyterian Church in Dravosburg, she also was a member of the Fem Gem women’s group and was a Sunday school teacher. She was a terrific organist who played at both First Baptist Church, Amity Presbyterian Church and Kane Hospital. Carol worked as a medical secretary for Dr Reiner and Dr. Kurtz Private Practice in Oakland and Mercy Hospital. Carol also sold Avon Products for 30 years. She is survived by her sons Mat Simon of Youngwood, Tony (April McFadden) Simon of Scottdale, her sisters Cheryl (Jake) Evansky of Charleroi, Ruth (Westley) Hanburg of Jefferson Hills, Bonnie Lemley of Belle Vernon, and her brother Allen (Bea) Gray of Layton, grandchildren Mathew, Cody, Kyler, Mylee, Alivia, Lillyonah, as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. She enjoyed taking care of the house and pond. She loved to pass the time by sewing. Harry T Stoker (Tom), born on April 25, 1941, in Pittsburgh, PA, peacefully passed away on January 22, 2024, at Jefferson Hospital. He was surrounded by his loving family and the warm embrace of the memories they shared. Tom was born to the late Eunice and Harry Stoker, alongside his sister, Starr Burkhurt, who preceded him in death. Tom is survived by his devoted wife of 42 years, Beverly, who stood by his side through thick and thin. Together, they created a beautiful family and shared countless cherished memories. He leaves behind a legacy that will forever be treasured by his children: Kelly Stoker of Port Vue, Darla (Kenneth) Losteter of Glassport, Lora Hess of West Mifflin, James (Ronna) Patton of Jefferson Hills, and Roy (Kaycie) Patton of Forward Twp. Tom was also a loving brother to Linda Mayou of Warren County. Tom was a dedicated and hardworking individual, retiring after 50 years of service from Carpenters Combined Local 1759 Floor Coverers. His commitment to his craft was evident in the quality of his work. He was respected by his colleagues and admired for his work ethic. In his spare time, Tom had several passions that brought joy to his life. He loved vacationing in Ontario, Canada, where he found solace in the tranquility of nature. As a passionate hunter and fisherman, he experienced the thrill of the chase and the serenity of the water. Tom was a member of the Mon Valley Reptile Club and took part in various rattlesnake rangling competitions. His skill and passion for the sport were admired by all who knew him. Despite his busy schedule, Tom always made time for his family and his beloved dogs, Rosie, Luna, and Herby. He adored his 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren, and nieces who brought immeasurable happiness to his life. Tom's love for his family knew no bounds, and his presence will be deeply missed by each and every one of them. Throughout his life, Tom was an active member of several organizations, including the Clairton Sportsman's Club, Willock Social Club, and Moose Social Club. His involvement and dedication to these organizations showcased his commitment to enriching the lives of those around him. Harry T Stoker will be remembered as a loving husband, a devoted father, a cherished grandfather, and a loyal friend. His presence brought light into the lives of all who knew him, and his memory will forever remain in our hearts. May he rest in eternal peace.
