James “Jim” “Buddha” Clair Harvey, 57, of West Mifflin, formerly of Clairton, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Jefferson Hills Manor.  He was born February 2, 1961 in Frankfurt, Germany   to the late Charles Wilford Harvey and Rosemary Siler Harvey Petrisko.  James is survived by daughter, Brittany Harvey of Vandergrift; brothers, Vincent (Valerie) Harvey of Greenock, Charles (Kerry) Evans of Finleyville; sisters, Virginia (Joseph) Nehila of West Mifflin, Mary Jo Harvey of Dravosburg, Charlene (Scott) Hart Snyder of Dubois; 4 nephews, 2 nieces; great-nieces, Audrey, Leonnah, Ja’layah and great-nephew Parker.  He was a lifelong EMT and fireman having close ties with the departments in West Elizabeth, Clairton, Dravosburg where he was Fire Chief, and Duquesne where he was Assistant Chief. He loved car racing, baseball, and his job as a firefighter. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made directly to the funeral home or at www.fundthefuneral.com.    Visitation will take place on Sunday, July 1, 2018 from 5 – 8 pm at S. M. FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 432 N. 6th Street, Clairton,  PA   15025.  A memorial service will take place at the funeral home immediately following visitation. Lois Berrier Black, age 89, of Lincoln Place, and formerly of McKeesport, passed away on Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Manorcare Health Services - Whitehall. She was a member of Bible Baptist Temple in Jefferson Hills. Born November 15, 1928 in Canton, OH, she was a daughter of the late Lester H. and Nora (Vanderhoff) Berrier and wife of the late Richard T. Black. She is survived by children, Janice (Sam) Shamber of Henderson, NV, Katheleen (Paul) Sneed of Finleyville, Thomas (Joanne) Black of Townville, Patricia (Kevin) Grace of Cochranton, and Colleen (Thomas) Fink of Pittsburgh; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren; also, nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank the staff at Manor Care in Whitehall and Heartland Hospice for their loving care in the past year. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, 221 North Second Avenue, Elizabeth on Saturday, June 30, 2018 from 12 noon until the time of service at 2 p.m. in the chapel with Pastor Donald Thompson officiating. Rosemary A. (Curran) Denne age 90, of Duquesne, on June 27, 2018, surrounded by her children as they prayed and sang her favorite hymns of praise, entered eternal life to be with her Lord and Savior, at UPMC Mercy.  She was the daughter of the late Dr. Thomas & Ann (Malone) Curran. Rosemary was the former treasurer of the City of Duquesne, succeeding her husband after his death.  She was a certified tax collector; a member of St. Joseph Church, Duquesne, and member of their former school PTG, GFWC Women’s Club of Duquesne, Democratic Women’s Club, board member of the Duquesne-West Mifflin Boys & Girls Club, 2003 YWCA Women of Achievement Honoree, member of the CLW/St. Joseph’s Church Women’s Focus Group, and volunteer at the Duquesne Elementary School until her death. She was a member of the former Football Mothers’ Club, Basketball Boosters, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court Duquesne #871 and a former School Director.  She was the wife of the late Carl R. “Buck” Denne; mother of Dr. Tom C. (Mary Jane) Denne of Keyser, WV, Mame (Thomas) Donohue of Jefferson Hills, Rosie (Andy) Dubyak of Pleasant Hills, Joseph Denne of Akron, OH, Sharon (Tim) Beal of Forward Twp., Carla (Dave) Tomas of North Huntingdon; grandmother of Monica (Pete) Spence, Luke (Kirsten) Denne, Dr. Nick (Erin) Denne, Capt. Timothy (fiancé, Dr. Laura Duling) Donohue, U.S Army, Maura Donohue, Patrick Donohue, Meghan (fiancé, Lt. Margaret "Marge" Hogya, 93, of North Versailles, formerly of Greenock Heights, died Thursday, June 28, 2018 at home. She was born March 29, 1925 in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late Antonio and Anna (Bernari) DiFabio. She was the wife of the late Joseph A. Benedict and the late Alex A. Hogya. Marge was a member of St. Patrick Parish and the Ladies of Charity and the Women's Guild and was also a Eucharistic Minister and Greeter. She was a volunteer at Kane Regional in McKeesport for over 20 years and had worked for the former H&H Fish Market and DiFabio's Service Station in McKeesport. Marge was awarded an honorary high school diploma from McKeesport High School on her 80th birthday. She is survived by sons, Gary (Joan) Benedict of Providence Forge, VA, , Richard (Ruth) Benedict of Milford, DE, daughter, Peggy Benedict (Scott) West of Blue Springs, MO, grandchildren, Bonnie Benedict Sharkey, Jon B. Benedict, Justin West, Heather West, Mary Lou Jennings, Richard A. Benedict, and Aimee Benedict, great-grandchildren, Joshua and Emily Sharkey, Meera and Zoe Benedict, Kayleigh, G. Dane, and A. Safko, 69 of West Mifflin, died June 26, 2018.  He is the son of the late Michael and Caroline Safko.  He is survived by his sister Carolyn (the late Robert) Munro; also nieces and nephews, and was preceded in death by his brother Robert (Anne) Safko and sister Dorothy (late John) McNansky. Bill was a graduate of West Mifflin North H.S. and Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics. He served in the US Navy during the Viet Nam era. Kass was born October 28, 1934 in Ligonier, the first daughter of Agnes Kinney Kunkle and Raymond Kunkle. In addition to her parents, she was greeted in heaven by her loving husband Jerry Sofaly. Celebrating her life are her two daughters Leslie Sofaly Peters (Kent) of Columbus, Ohio, and Lynn Sofaly Boyd of Harrison City, and her son John “Jack” Sofaly (Julie) of North Huntingdon. She leaves six grandchildren, Charles Nider (Tracy), James Peters, Alex Boyd, Katie Sofaly, Don Sofaly and Paul Sofaly, and one great granddaughter Caroline Nider.
